It's time! I'm collecting data for my #CityLIS dissertation and would appreciate your help. Purpose: to examine how people interact with news and what techniques people use to analyze news information in different scenarios and environments.

In my research I've seen a few different definitions for 'mainstream news,' but in our 2022 world I'm not convinced any of them are capturing what is 'mainstream' now. What news sources do you consider 'mainstream'?.

One of the most interesting things I've learned from @CityLIS is the idea of 'serendipity' in info finding. I discussed this with a friend and walked away wondering: with our online lives largely influenced by platforms' algorithms, is online info finding ever 'serendipitous'?.

I thought studying #LIS in grad school would help me narrow my interests into a focused career trajectory but I still have too many possible futures that I look at and think "that would be a cool job".

I absolutely love @SheffLibraries community approach to multilingual book acquisition with #bringabookhome. As travel becomes more common again, how cool would it be to see this in all public libraries?.

Mission accomplished, and two (simplified) Mandarin books found at the airport in Changsha, for #Sheffield’s @SheffLibraries multilingual children’s library :) Can you #bringabookhome from your holidays to help the library grow? #sheffieldissuper @SheffSocScience @Sheffunistaff

Somehow I’ve never before thought through how a book index is created but now I see that it’s much more complicated than I could have guessed. Indexers are so impressive!.

It’s a strange feeling waking up today and not knowing what to do with myself. I’ve had a one track mind for the last month, focusing only on my essays. Now I have no idea how to fill my day!.

Feeling anxious and having trouble focusing on my book. So I stopped for a second. Got a whiff of that wonderful book smell. And now I’m just sitting here smelling my book instead of reading it. It’s actually doing wonders for the anxiety.

Is anyone else having trouble getting PCR results? Strangely my lateral flow orders come in the mail in 24 hours so I’m not having the issue everyone else seems to have. But I’ve been waiting over 3 days for a PCR result.

In my previous role, the most meaningful “slow” work for me was in the everyday interactions with the people I managed. Putting in the time to build relationships, talking people through things, advising, and encouraging employees was why I loved management.

Loved this episode and considering slow librarianship. What is some of the slow, good, humane, and thoughtful work you’re most proud of that may not get a lot of attention?.
