and all the co-authors! This work further emphasizes that biology guides tool development. We are grateful for all the biologists who are willing to try our prototype sensors (1/2)
The 2022-2023 school year is off to an amazing start!
To celebrate, I’d like to spend a moment highlighting recent Tian Laboratory member achievements 🏆
Ever wanted to try GCaMP imaging in axons, but worried about dim signal? Check out our work on development of an axon-targeted GCaMP: Congrats to collaborators from labs of
@leo_petreanu
and Na Ji!
Double congratulations to the Tian lab’s graduate UC Davis Allen G. Marr Prize awardee for superior dissertation work, Dr.

A sweet and bitter moment as we celebrate
@gracemizuno
’s success and achievement in grad school at her Exit Seminar. A bright future ahead with unlimited surprises and opportunities as she leads
@SevenBiosci
! We will miss you so much but we are excited for your next venture!
Our graduate student Grace Or has been selected for the Keller Fellowship: a UC Davis program for innovators and aspiring/early-stage entrepreneurs to expand their networks and move ideas out of the lab and into the world. Congrats
@_graceor

A special shoutout to the Tian lab undergrads 🌟
To celebrate their hard work and achievements, last week we hosted an Undergraduate Appreciation lunch.
Feeling grateful to have such an amazing group of students!
Looking forward to learning a lot at the 2023 GPCR Workshop in Kona, Hawaii 🌴 Yihan Jin will be presenting our work on
#GPCR
-based sensors.
Thanks to the ConfometRx Research Foundation & the
@UCDavisCNS
Barbara Chapman Neuroscience award for supporting Yihan!
Great work
@mohebial
and
@berke_lab

From a technical standpoint this study demonstrates that all three techniques: FSCV, microdialysis (Kennedy’s lab) and optical imaging are indeed complimentary. Fun collaboration!
Our flagship new dopamine paper is out:
NAc dopamine release is not a passive readout of VTA dopamine cell firing,
but appears instead to be locally sculpted to create motivational signals.
Tremendous work by Ali, Jeff and our wonderful collaborators!

The city of Davis issued “shelter in place” today. Kind of expected. Lab is shutting down. Maybe we will discover something new in this difficult and challenging times.
Finally, The Tian Laboratory welcomed incoming Master’s degree students Yiwei Hua & Sherin Lajevardi who both joined the Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Physiology 👏🏼
Congrats Dr. Broussard
@JoeyBroussard6
! Our first graduate student in the lab gave an excellent exit seminar today. Now, off to do great things in
@SamWangPhD
’s lab!
Graduate student Yihan Jin received the 2022 Barbara Chapman Neuroscience Award.
This award will allow Yihan to explore off-site educational & training opportunities.
Biomedical engineering graduate student Nikki Tjahjono was awarded an
