I have received many questions about my plotter painting practice. What? How? Why? Because these conversations happen on SNS, my answers are often short and incomplete.
So, here's an article that covers them all!

Major life update: I just left my tenure-track job, packed everything, and moved out of a country where I spent 10+ yrs so that I can make (generative) art FULL-TIME!
I feel grateful & lucky because I am living my dreams now. It makes me think about what I did right.

Art Blocks has been playing such a key role in this ongoing generative art movement. I am truly excited and honored that I can take a front seat and contribute something.
Yes, I am officially on the curation board👋

Thanks to the +GRAPH show, now I finally know how to create texture intentionally!

Thrilled to present you Fictional Lullaby, my latest generative painting algorithm that captures thoughts at night. It tells silent yet intense stories about the head-spinning journeys my mind takes when the last lamp goes off.

Today is my 4th plotterversary!
4 years can change many things. But my love and fascination for plotters haven’t. Patting my plotters on their arms now and feeling genuinely happy that we’ve created so many wonderful moments together.

**Background Story Time**
Sparkling Goodbye is an algorithm that surprised me. After finishing the algorithm, I spent days trying to figure out what made this work so different.
The conclusion is: I was different. My art changed because I have changed.

Happy to share a sneak peek of another piece in -GRAPH, a
@FeralFile
show happening in about 36 hrs. This is edition 6, titled “this is not happening.“ It is a 6-color painting made with ink, watercolor, and liquid pigment.

My computer crashed at the end so I have no idea how long this took exactly, but I am guessing it’s in the 250-300 hr range.
It was fun! Time for another painting🦾

Another magical day in Tokyo, thanks to

So happy to meet old friends, new friends, and these ✨Sparklingly Goodbyes ✨
Sparklingly Goodbye # 1-4 👇
Depending on the composition, materials, and techniques used, my plotter paintings’ plotting times can differ dramatically.
Left: 280 hrs. Right: 140hrs
Btw, I am running a live plotter painting demo
@verticalcrypto
this coming Monday. Come and say hi if you are in London 👇
This had been an amazing week! I got to spend some quality time with old & new friends. Talked about art, and made art!
Here’s what I and my plotter made this week.
Dev Story!
I started Fictional Lullaby with a series of sketches. While sketching, I kept returning to the idea of energetic curves and sharp lines. I wasn't sure about my connection to this abstract and blurry view, but I knew it was the right direction.

Today marks the completion of another 100-day project! So far, I have completed 5 of these challenges. These 500 days completely transformed how I approach art. Art-making is no longer the weekend/evening side project, but more like water and vitamins. (1/2)
2023 has been a fantastic year! Here's my 2023 in 45 seconds.
Many thanks to curators, artists, collectors, platforms, organizations, friends, families, and anyone who has supported me this year!
Not sure if a week could get better than this: I had the pleasure to attend THREE generative art exhibitions by artists I really love (
@mpkoz
!
@mattdesl
! And
@tylerxhobbs
!).
I think moving to London is a good decision 🤩
I have been looking for a color-exploration tool for generative art. I didn't find an ideal one, so I built one:
Proud to introduce **Color Rules Generator**, a color palette-generating tool designed for rule-based color exploration!

Super excited to announce that my next long-form generative art system, Drifting Dreams, will be released/exhibited soon in the COMPANIONS OF CODE exhibition by
@verticalcrypto
and
@TheNFTGallery4

I consider -GRAPH on
@FeralFile
as my debut exhibition into the world of plotter art and NFT. I am proud to introduce my generative system titled "Endless Monologue," which captures my reflective conversations into abstract forms.
This might sound odd but plotting does make me feel alive. I just love seeing my time and code growing into surprises.
Now, rushing to the next one!

In this last long thread about Running Moon, let’s talk about some technical details. Running Moon is a JS-based generative program without external dependencies. The development process of Running Moon gave me many “aha” moments.

Had a wonderful time chatting with the +GRAPH crew. Thanks everyone for joining us!
My plotter, Elephanty, was plotting during the call. In case you’re curious about what’s being plotted:
During the demo, I mentioned that I have a function that lets me pause and resume the plotting process. After bringing Bunny (my plotter) home, I decided to resume the demo plot with acrylic. Here’s the finished result.
