So elated to be here at ATS2023 with my wife @epi_noel . We can spend the night being warmly embraced by friends and colleagues in a city where we are safe and respected and can focus on the science and the networking and the love around us.

In 2017, I walked home from an ATS party with my mentor, Mark Gladwin. We talked about life. I met people who shaped his journey. I knew then that he’d be a mentor for life. We walked those same streets chatting last night. So grateful.

ATS—your conference location choice means I have to worry about 1) open gun carrying 2) access to healthcare if I’m pregnant 3) whether members of my LGBTQ community can safely use the bathroom. Good choice. Seems suited to learning and career promotion.
