i also do think friendship requires some sacrifice & reciprocation. it shouldn’t be tit for tat, but it also shouldn’t be one sided & unfair.

i was on FT with a great friend and they held me accountable for not saying happy birthday last month. i immediately apologized. didn’t say “well i was busy” or anything like that. it was truly my bad, even if it was unintentional. it should be that easy.

also: take note of how they respond when you communicate how you feel. do they take accountability, gaslight and/or move the goalpost, or just go ghost? everybody wants dialogue & conversations, until they’re the ones in the hot seat.
