From a user perspective, transactions on Rollups are extremely cheap allowing for cheaper transactions and a smoother user experience. This allows for much more scalability of different apps, use cases, and transactions to occur. 🥳

The introduction of EIP-4844 and blob data greatly improved the economics of operating and using Ethereum rollups. This development, however, has shifted some revenue capture from Ethereum L1 and the ETH burn rate to Rollup operators.

User activity on Rollups picked up immediately post-Dencun and sustained an increased usage through the 150 day period following Dencun. Rollups averaged 3.285 million txns daily vs 6.656 million txns in the 150 days that followed Dencun. 📈

Rollup margins in absolute terms have improved after Dencun despite fee revenues dropping 42%. Rollups are keeping more of the revenue they earn after EIP-4844 than before. 💰

With the reduction of operational expenses, Rollups also captured less revenue. Rollups have earned an average of $691.3k in revenue daily post-Dencun. Daily averages of $2.33m in the 30-day period, $1.46m in the 90-day period, and $1.2m in the 150-day period pre-Dencun. 📉

Since the activation of blobs, Rollups have paid an average of $135.1k in operating costs daily compared to the daily averages of $1.7m in the 30-day period, $1.07m in the 90-day period, and $888.6k in the 150-day period pre-Dencun. 📉

Activity on leading L2s picked up immediately post-Dencun, however the rise in txn count also saw more failed txn rates as bots spam the chain due to the large reduction in txn fees.

Rollup costs for @arbitrum, @Optimism, @base, @zksync, @LineaBuild, and @Scroll_ZKP were reduced substantially paying a combined average of 135.1k in operating costs daily post-Dencun compared to the 888.6.k daily average in the 150 days leading into Dencun. 📉
