Take home from our new study is that one should be aware of the possibility of a significant deficit in knee function although a patient reports good knee function, performs well on a function test and shows no apparent problems with movement control.

Improved functional performance regardless of improvements in knee function is likely to be partially explained by compensation with hip extensors.

We observed that biomechanical assessment of knee function and muscle strength testing convey different messages than common clinical assessments of knee function in pre to post ACL reconstruction follow-up.
