New Research: “Unheard Voices," highlights the underrepresentation of Autistic adults with intellectual disability in research. Just 14 studies using self-report, few measures validated or co-produced. More work needed so that diverse voices are heard.

*Big people up*, especially younger people and especially in research, where we are constantly exposed to negative feedback in reviews etc. That’s my unsolicited advice of the morning. You’re welcome.

The system is 'adversarial' because unlawful decisions are routinely made. Families - reasonably - appeal against these. The SEND Tribunal then rules that unlawful decisions are unlawful. Get the decision-making right first time, and the system will become less adversarial.

Today at @CommonsPAC we looked at the dire state of the SEN system in the UK. My questioning to officials focused on the utterly broken EHCP system, such as the adversarial appeals process. Parents and children deserve so much better when it comes to applying for an EHCP.

Before I had a disabled child, I thought #ChildrenInNeed was a night of fun telly. But now I see “Children being Failed” by society because most of what is needed should be in place in this country. Ask yourself what happens to these oh so cute disabled children at 18yrs.
