As Sheikh Gumi’s son graduates from the Nigerian Defense Academy I could not help but remember a book I read titled “That we may be one” an autobiography of Ambassador Tanko Yusuf A Jukun and former Middle Belt leader. In page 105, he writes about how Abubakar Gumi, the father

If you hear or see a person throw stones behind your back into your father's house and you keep relating with such a person you will eventually get severely wounded through that relationship. Worse still, if the individual knows you are no longer ignorant of their true attitude

The public role of women in Yoruba civic life is evident in this video of the new Olubadan prostrating himself to 3 women as part of the coronation rites. On December 18, 1854, Anna Hinderer met the Iyalode of Ibadan, a shock, no doubt, to her Victorian sensibilities on gender.
It's tradition for the new Olubadan to postrate here three times. Congratulations to Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa I.

Think Yoruba First. That is the new ideology that will rule Yorubaland for the next 1000 years. We will not relent. Olodumare is with us. Asẹ.

Ive spent a little time reading about Zikists and I know one when I see one. The principle is to speak about 'detribalization' & play down 'Yorubanism' while your actions project the Igbo culture. In public, uve to act detached from topics related to ethnicity. Zikists pretend
"My job is not to highlight Yoruba heritage, and that's not what the show is about. The show is about my artwork & highlighting Nigerian creatives in Lagos, and capturing this melting pot. This is nothing about Yoruba cultural heritage. I know they want it to be, but it's not."🎯

You see it in the cavalier way folks talk about Yoruba language, people, food, culture etc, dismissing it as unimportant while FIERCELY protecting theirs. Self-hating Yoruba people can play along for as long as they choose, but they don’t love you and you know it. Lol.
Looks like there’s an agenda to ridicule Yoruba culture and practices. The funny part is other peoples cherish and protect theirs whilst some of Yoruba extraction join them in the disparagement. Always funny to me.

There's always a classist undertone to you Yoruba liberals and "inclusivists" and it confirms my theory that the only reason most of you take a liberal stance is because you've been programmed to see it as signal toward a higher social status. That's really all it is.
You’re sitting in your mosquito infested room with your water damaged roof writing to government officials to block a stranger’s exhibition. YOU ARE WRITING TO GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS not about the flooding in Lagos, not about the obscene cost of power but about Uzo? Arindin ni e

Faux intellectuals always acting like they are beneath tribal discourse while being closet bigots. – ‘We are doomed.’ – ‘NGMI.’ – ‘China is building trains while Nigerians are arguing tribalism.’ There's nowhere in the world they don't cling to their culture. Nowhere.

I don't know bro, but what if this is still them holding back for their son's sake and what you're crying about is just prelude, and they actually press "play" after his tenure? Do you and everyone else understand what that would do? You all will in a few years when he leaves!

Yoruba value system In Yorubaland, money has never been foremost in Yoruba value system. In our value system money is number six What are the first five you ask? 1. The first is làákà’yè - The application of knowledge, wisdom & understanding... (Ogbón and ìmò òye) 2. The
