I have met Angela Rayner and I really like her. I rate her mind and her political capabilities. (I sat with her when she was the speaker at a local fundraising meal).

Angela Rayner is hated by one or two national newspaper editors. They have teams on her. She has her privacy invaded and her safety compromised because she is a) a woman, and b) not playing their games. Nasty stuff in my view. Plenty of Tory and Reform MPs live far wealthier

- it's a stance I don't agree with, because it lacks a positive alternative, although of course I would like asylum seekers to be housed in better accom than hotel rooms and would like a better policy to be implemented - when such a policy and its accommodation are ready.

In the case of Wirral, the leader points out it's a hotel with only male occupants and makes the case that that is unfair on their community so they asked the Home Office to change the situation and got nowhere -.

I have heard back from the leaders of the Wirral and Tamworth councils. In the case of Tamworth, the leader does not feel that the media coverage is telling the real story and is not reflecting council efforts in the community.

This morning I have written to the leaders of the two Labour councils reportedly (in the news) considering trying to shut their hotels housing people seeking sanctuary through the asylum system. They need a welcoming message. Do they have a better offer for their global guests?.

When a family gets refugee status, they are usually rehoused in another city. This rips children away from their schools, including during GCSEs and A levels. It's a really sad interruption to an already traumatised childhood. Why do people wish more of this on children?.

When will people twig that you can't protect landscapes long-term by refusing the infrastructure needed for renewable energy generation?.

South Oxfordshire District Council's planning committee (SODC) has rejected a planning application for a 100MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near Garsington, over concerns of inappropriate development on the Green Belt and having an adverse impact on the landscape.
