I wanna read an alien textbook about humans: "the most brilliant organism to ever exist. an apex predator capable of surviving the impossible. unbreakable spirit. the closest thing the universe has to god. also, dumbass monkey that gets addicted to gambling and sugar."

I can see how the current-situation might give opportunity for such. AMD 'Slot AMX' APUs, w/ on-module 256-bit (8x32-bit) LPDDR# or GDDR# unified memory, perhaps? Strix Halo (or its successors), on desktop? Distributed-manufacturing of the slottable module, finished by AMD?

'Says nothing about using Asus' massive buying power to 'sideline' DRAM modules out of supply, for their own cost-optimized RAM UDIMMs, though. They're one of the few consumer-facing companies with the capital, expertise, and scaled manufacturing facilities, to replace Crucial.

The future is clear. You will not own your compute. Because of AI, hardware costs are pricing out average users, RAM has 4x'd, GPUs 2x'd, Hard Drive costs increase, Game consoles go up, etc. All of this drives the compute to the cloud, which you'll have to pay a subscription to

Steam Deck 2 with USB 80Gbps (USB4 Version 2.0), when? Too many of these had really poor LCD screens; mine included. Personally, I can't justify buying an OLED model, with zero I/O improvements.
