This is a good read for graphics software developers! Get a latte and plenty of time first before reading, though. It's bigger than the famous Blur Busters Wall of Texts.

Instructions for 600Hz / 720Hz / 1000Hz TestUFO: For those of you testing 720Hz & up with TestUFO, you need to use chrome://flags and switch to Direct3D 9 mode for now. Despite TestUFO frametimes of 0.1-0.2ms, D3D11 ANGLE throttles requestAnimationFrame()

We interestingly noticed changing ANGLE back ends in chrome://flags D3D9 - rAF() goes up to almost 1000fps D3D11 - rAF() only goes up to 500-600fps D3D11 WARP - rAF() goes up to 950fps Funny that the software renderer (WARP) outperforms the RTX 3080 and RTX 5080... cc:

We are wondering if Line 63 of vsync_provider_win.cc in Chromium is possibly the culprit: https://t.co/QRGbg8WpXv However, there are other candidate locations in the Chromium source code that might lead to this. We're testing, and will submit a issue tracker to Chromium soon.

🚨Calling Chromium developers at Google: We are researching options to run TestUFO above 500fps during VSYNC (framerate=Hz) mode. 1. We know TestUFO can run at up to 25,000fps in an internal uncapped mode. It's also possible to get north of 5000fps using command line options

CHEAP DDR5! For those vacationing in Mexico; Cheap DDR5 on Amazon Mexico. Kingston is the reseller. 64GB DDR5 under USD $250 Yes, 3 catches: 1. Mexico address. Use your hotel address. 2. Only 5200 MT/sec 3. Currently mislabelled as "32GB SSD" but actually part KF552C40BB-32.

500 vs 1000Hz will be barely visible on LCD. Let's see 1000Hz reach OLEDs, please. 🛸

@UHD4k @Flatpanels Happy to see this but cognizant that 500-vs-1000 will be a barely visible difference on LCD. Hz improvement is a more visible difference on OLED. Noticeable LCD improvements stop at a lower Hz than on OLED. Flatpanelshd gets a 5-UFO 🛸🛸🛸🛸🛸kudos for the proper call out:
