Plaid Cymru called for an investigation into foreign interference after Reform’s ex-Welsh leader was found guilty of accepting Russian bribes. The UK Government dragged their feet leaving no time for action before the Senedd election next May to protect our democracy.

I welcome the decision to investigate Russian interference in UK politics. I raised this in Parliament in October, regarding Nathan Gill, the former Reform UK Wales leader who has since been jailed for bribery. Protecting our democracy ahead of elections is essential.
Reform’s ex-leader in Wales, Nathan Gill, pleaded guilty to accepting bribes from Russia. Our democracy depends on trust and accountability, and this kind of foreign interference has no place in Welsh politics.
