Immigration is not a partisan issue.
This is a simple matter of incentives. Illegals, both illegally and eventually legally, vote for the party that supports illegals, which is the Democratic Party. Democrat activists will therefore fight like hell to keep them in the country, as it is their path to power.

The Oglala Sioux Tribe says ICE is currently detaining 3 tribal members (U.S. citizens arrested at a homeless encampment) and refused to release any details about their detention to the Tribe unless the Tribe agreed to “enter into an immigration agreement with ICE.”
