It’s not just getting the lung in through a small incision that is challenging- the old lung also has to come out through a 6cm hole! The lung here has pulmonary fibrosis, and patient transplanted using minimally invasive #lungtranaplant with the #robot . @pacman8it @ISHLT

While healing of a patient’s own lungs is always better, #lungtransplant is an option in select patients with very damaged lungs from #COVID19 . Outcomes with these patients are encouraging, as shown in this article. @CedarsSinai @ISHLT
