Here's what I think is happening: 1. The media, with low ratings, saw blood in the water after the debate and ran with sensational and inaccurate headlines to generate profit. They have admitted this. 2. That, in turn, influenced big money dem donors who then threatened to pull

School shootings continue, kids feeling more disconnected and hopeless, skies choked with smoke as kids sit in crumbling buildings, chronic school underfunding, teaching less desirable profession than ever... And you're worried about some trans kid making the track team.

Why is NJ making high school juniors do a 2nd round of pointless NJSLA testing right in the middle of SAT/ACTs? How is this their top priority right now? Y'all lost your minds during PARCC & never got them back. @DrAllenMcMillan @GovMurphy @MilaJasey @vingopal @pamlampitt1 @NJEA

No, #WestOrange, taxes aren't going up 16%. That's a 1st draft number, not yet discussed by the town council or citizens budget advisory committee, & even if it stands, is a 16% increase on the ~26% of your taxes that go to the town. Math it up here: https://t.co/jr5Tkx73sv

They will remove elected representatives from their legislatures rather than do a damned thing to keep guns out of schools. Amazing.

Now, though? Now we can't pass bills to require a simple background check every time a gun is sold -- something supported by 90%+ of all Americans.

(While we're at it, the 1993 assault weapons ban passed the House in a voice vote and the Senate 95-4.) Shit used to actually make sense, y'all.

The Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 passed the House 313-1, and passed the Senate by a VOICE VOTE, ffs. 33 years and how many dead children later and we're told the only thing we can do is homeschool our kids and throw as many loose guns into our school buildings as possible?

The "debate" here is just astounding. Imagine if the response to drunk driving deaths in the 80s was "well, we can't lower BAC limits or make cars any safer, people are gonna drink no matter what laws we make, so, idk, people should just stay home so no drunk crashes into them."

If it's actually true that there's never been a school shooting in a school where teachers are allowed to carry guns, that's nothing more than dumb luck (and a small sample size of schools with armed teachers), because there've been plenty in schools with armed on-site SROs.

NJ, why are we still wasting time on badly designed graduation exit testing that we know will have a massive failure rate? What happened to A4639? @SavOurSchoolsNJ @MilaJasey

@JoshuaMZeitz @LOLGOP "“It’s only been a month now, and we’re already talking about this individual again,” Morris said of Kercher. “There’s not much we can do, we’re stuck with this guy again, unfortunately.”" a Board of Education PRESIDENT said this? IN A PUBLIC MEETING? Ethics charges. Now.

West Orange now receiving $34m of the ~$36m the SFRA says we should get from the state -- 95%, up from about the 31% we were at when I was elected in 2017. All credit and much gratitude to @FairFundingAC and @SteveSweeney_NJ for making S2 happen and for getting us to this point.

Is the earth flat? Some say it is, some say it isn't. They're both right, and yet both wrong. In the fog of our bifurcated politics, it's hard to say one way or the other. And does it really matter?

School boards are custodians not free agents. And you can’t fire superintendents like you would fire a college football coach. When done for wrong reason, it demoralizes staff & teachers, & undermines the education the board claims it is protecting.

Republicans are amazed that the kids they gleefully put through active shooter drills grew up to vote against them.

Reminder that active shooter drills are especially worthless now because the war on elementary schoolers has been going on for long enough that the active shooters also went through active shooter drills

Amazing. The same folks who said it’s unconstitutional and tyrannical to put masks on children during a pandemic are now cheerleading the idea of wrapping kids in bulletproof blankets.
