"We're withholding our endorsement because our owner is frightened of government retaliation if Donald Trump wins" is a more forceful and eloquent statement than any newspaper editorial ever written.

Frontiers, another strike against that “family” of grifty journals.
The rat with the big balls and the enormous penis – how Frontiers published a paper with botched AI-generated images @FrontiersIn

We have been studying the human ecology of some of the oldest archaeological sites in the region. Now we are turning our attention to the biodiverse rainforests of the Bladen Nature Reserve.

Postdoctoral opportunity alert! Interested in paleoecology of the neotropics, the coupled dynamics of shifting human impacts and rainforest responses in the Maya lowlands, spatial analysis, and climate modeling?

Excited to share this new article out today from my lab and led by @brota looking at the Middle/Late Holocene transition and development of early farming in the Maya Lowlands.

Future earth may not look a lot like present earth unless we act now.
The difference between 1.5°C, 2°C or 3-4°C average global warming can sound marginal. But, they represent vastly different scenarios for the future of humanity. We must #ActNow. https://t.co/KLUg35bx0R Via @UN

Proud to be part of this interdisciplinary health promotion in the communities that have so generously and kindly collaborated with my research for two decades, with thanks to @CecilMLewisJr @UNM_Anthro #santacruzbelize #uxbenka
Place-based health promotion (for Belize) inspired conversations with medical anthropology, supported by a biological anthropologist, for local engagement led by an archaeologist, using the talent of linguistic anthropologist, with the help of our local partners. #Anthropology

Congrats Hannah! You are a rockstar student and off on an amazing grad school adventure. @UNM_Anthro
The graduating @McNairUNM cohort! The second photo is with one of my undergrad research advisors @teeth_and_bones. My McNair research advisor @KeithPrufer couldn’t make it to the banquet, but I do thank them both so much for all their help and support over the past few years!

Knowing this no serious scholar should publish in any MDPI or Frontiers journal, or conduct reviews for them, or serve as an editor.
Great thread on MDPI predatory journals being de-listed. Why do archaeologists (are you listening, Mayanists) publish in MDPI journals? These, and other predatory journals (Frontiers in ....) harmful to the profession. Are you really that desperate to publish something?

Our publication in @CommsEarth is getting a lot of well deserved attention. The role of seasonal rainfall predictability in the #neotropics is one of the most important, and most understudied, climate features that can predict reliable crop harvests in the past and present.
Disintegration of complex Classic Maya population centres possibly driven by declines in seasonal rainfall predictability in addition to protracted drought. @SciTobias @LisaMBaldini1 @SFMBreitenbach @pucicu @DrFranziskaAnna @DJ_Kennett @KeithPrufer
