I am the type of person who is horrendously socially anxious but also I think I’m funny and use humour to get people to like me so in every social situation/when I’m on TV or radio, I make a joke and then worry for 6 months that i’ve offended someone. It’s a curse. Anyone else?.

She paved the way for women in broadcasting, fought her way into Radio 1 when there were no female presenters. Continued to champion women, young people, new music for the entirety of her career, never retired. What a legacy, what a life lived! We were all in awe of her ❤️.

We said goodbye to our queen, my nan Eileen Penning in the early hours of this morning. 93 years, 9 children, 39 grandchildren and great grandchildren and countless parties where she was the last one off the dance floor. Words can’t express how much her huge family adore her ❤️

BBC local radio is a lifeline. I’ve heard stories at Radio Manc about how many people who don’t have anyone to help them have phoned in during lockdown. The reality is those people will get swallowed up in the mass of texts with bigger stations. I pray it never goes away.
