Two mins of perfect from @Kathy_CEO_CE Listening to this is a good start to the day... Working with love 💓
A perfect quote on a ☀️ Monday from @Kathy_CEO_CE to start the week with. In our webinar back in May this is what she said when talking with @BrendanFMartin, @ProfDonnaHall & @MaffPotts about what love's got to do with it . . . #MondayMotivation

The UK economy was already hard for anyone trying to do decent work in it. The Budget has made it worse for any business/charity trying to make ends meet If it'd been a "pasty tax" it would've been reversed already. But NIC rises already closed 2 companies & 1 charity I know of

The Lib Dems went from 11 MPs in the 2019 GE to 72 MPs in 2024. But hey, don't let that stop the BBC endlessly talking about Reform and their 5 MPs #r4today

I really don't want to diss the whole private sector, but bankers do NOT represent them.... And it was bankers who plunged the economy into the long term depths of austerity, so I really don't see why they should be given oversight of public spending too

Really significant move in terms of the direct impact on child poverty & pressure to scrap the policy nationally. Along with the child payment & the work on a minimum income guarantee, Scotland is playing a key role stretching the social security debate

The Illegal Migration Act was so wildly expensive because the govt effectively barred itself from deciding asylum claims from small boat migrants, but couldn't send them to Rwanda It was, and remains, the most insane law I have ever seen. This is from May: https://t.co/qbl2gngQgx

NEW Might remember I cornered Rwandan President Paul Kagame in January and asked if UK would get money back if no migrants were transferred to Rwanda… answer revealed today: Govt paid £715m so far until June of this year “not recoverable under the terms of the Treaty”

I can't be the only person who'd love to employ more ppl, but is instead calculating the impact of the huge hike in employers' tax on jobs, wondering how to raise *a lot* more income just to pay it - and struggling to see the joined up thinking btw the Budget & this strategy 👇
The Get Britain Working white paper will kick-start the biggest reforms to employment support for a generation and fuel growth as we rebuild Britain in this decade of national renewal. https://t.co/zUfssufqJZ

Dear media (2): More people are on health/disability benefits because more people are ill. they’re iller for longer because: A. Getting treatment is hard & takes ages. B. We trap them in abject poverty. NOT because disability benefits are too easy to get or too generous. 1/2

I'm old enough to remember when 6m+ people signed a petition to remain in the EU How many people signing today's big petition for a General Election were calling for that earlier one to be enacted? Petitionary democracy ain't what it's cracked up to be https://t.co/aFEN1AxVu5
