To say someone lost their battle with cancer implies their actions or attitude impacted the outcome. They donβt. Drugs do the battling, not patients; & sometimes the drugs donβt work. Why canβt we just say that they died from cancer, after enduring x months/years of treatment?
βThey lost their battle with cancer.β How do you feel about war metaphors and cancer? They make @Liz_ORiordan angry. βAs a doctor, it didnβt bother me. But the minute I became a cancer patient I suddenly hated the war terminology.β

Childrenβs cancers are treated w/ decades old #Chemotherapy regimes & most are not specifically designed for Children. #ChildhoodCancer needs Research to be fair & made for their uniqueness. Our Children are Important & #Awareness is key. π

This photo of a #10 party was taken on 15 May 2020 - the day Ruby died of cancer, aged 18. Friends & extended family werenβt allowed to visit; they had to say their good-byes to her over Zoom. We then had to grieve alone without the comfort of friend/relatives. I am so angry.
