Ruby died of T-cell blood cancer aged 18, in 2020. In her memory, we raise research funds for @cclg_uk & share her motto far & wide: #LiveKindlyLiveLoudly

Joined July 2020
Ruby asked us to donate her savings (intended for gap-year travels) to research to find better blood cancer treatments. We set up a @CCLG_UK fund in her memory. V grateful for any donations; or if you’d like to fundraise for us please get in touch ❤️🙏 https://t.co/HBPD4DThHu

🐈 CURL UP, preferably with a cat and watch Killing Eve, Line of Duty, Sewing Bee, Race Across the World. Or if you fancy a movie how about Clueless, the Devil Wears Prada or (if you’re feeling crap) Princess Diaries, Merlin or the Sound of Music. #rememberingruby 9/n

☺️ LIVE KINDLY at every opportunity. Say thank you to your bus driver, donate to your local foodbank, offer someone your seat on a crowded train, be mindful of others’ feelings, help an animal in distress. #rememberingruby 8/n

🍫 EAT lots; no animals and plenty of chocolate. Pancakes for breakfast, sushi for lunch, katsu curry for dinner plus chocolate cake, brownies, cookies – and an inordinate amount of cucumber. #rememberingruby 3/n

Until today when, on the eve of what would have been Ruby's 24th birthday, we made a mini pilgrimage up to the top in her memory. Following in her footsteps & leaving her motto on the edge of the crater ❤️ #livekindlyliveloudly /ends #vesuvius

Though I remember hearing more about the food than the geography (an enormous quantity of ice cream was evidently consumed ❤️) Neither her Dad nor I had ever been to Vesuvius. 3/4

We'd hesitated before agreeing to fund the trip - it wasn't cheap, & we were off on a family holiday to France the day she came back. But she really wanted to go. I'm so glad we said yes. She had such a great time! 2/4

Six and a half years ago, Ruby climbed Mount Vesuvius as part of a sixth form geography field trip. (Ruby is second from the right in the back row ❤️) It was only 3 months before she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. 1/4

"She looked so beautiful and happy, my heart ached for her. But I felt glad she had been so loved, and I knew my life was better for having known her." From the Book of Suspicious Things by Jennie Godfrey I've just finished it & I'm in bits. Loved it ❤️💔

Sadly it wasn’t to be: Ruby’s cancer was too aggressive. But it gave her a few more previous months on this earth ❤️ If you haven’t already, please consider signing up to the stem cell registry. You might save someone's life. \ends #rememberingruby

It's #WorldMarrowDonorDay & we’re thinking of Ruby's anonymous donor, & all the other wonderful people who have donated their stem cells over the years. Saving thousands of lives as a result. This stranger's generosity gave Ruby her only chance of survival. 1/2

Ruby's story of delayed cancer diagnosis was incredibly common amongst other teenagers we met going through cancer treatment. Quicker diagnosis will improve survival rates. Thank you to CCLG for sharing Ruby's story and for their #ChildCancerSmart campaign.
Emma Jones’ daughter, Ruby, was 17 when she died from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. She urges #HealthcareProfessionals to consider: “Could it be cancer?” 3 persistent symptoms, 3 GP visits, or 3 weeks of unexplained symptoms. Pick up the phone. https://t.co/mmFdMVAyUz

Huge thanks to Rosemead's Year 6 pupils whose business fair raised over £1400 for Ruby's fund; what a result! There are some budding entrepreneurs amongst you - good luck to all of you as you head off to secondary school. Enormous thanks to Rosemead for all their support ❤️
