A huge thank you to Chris Griffin and the incredible team of walkers from @TravisPerkinsCo who walked 36 miles from Northampton to the LRI on Sat. Raising £14, 436 for Ward 27 @Leic_hospital. Chris's son Luke, is being treated at the ward, which supports children with cancer.

Loved sharing why play in hospital was so important for Sophie and why change is needed. Sophies words were "you wouldn't run a ward without nurses, I don't think you should run a word without play specialist." Children's voices should be heard and action taken.

We can safely say that it is never ‘just’ play. Play unlocks learning, safety, mental wellness, and so much more. Play is not a ‘nice to have’, it is an essential part of healthcare for children and young people and should be treated as such #JustPlay

Nurse specialists Kim Harvey and Stephen Caldwell travelled to Nigeria last year to help improve the lives of local children. The duo were part of a team who supported more than 150 operations and delivered teaching sessions to nurses as part of the Healing Little Children trip.
