Hello

Grey’s Anatomy X The Vampire Diaries
With the coven’s greatest rule broken and their matriarch out for blood, Emily knows she must tell Charlotte who—or rather what—she is. She knows she might lose Charlotte when her confession turns her world into something out
I just got a rejection from an agent who rejected me twelve days ago😂😂😂 I only queried her once. I’ve never laughed at a rejection before. Only I would get rejected TWICE.

So, I guess I did the thing. Officially signed. I started querying in December and signed at the tail end of April. I know I had one of the shorter querying journeys, but it was still a roller coaster of emotion!

So now that I’m agented I’d like to share one of my “favorite” rejections. I sent a nudge to this agent after being offered representation because I’d noticed I was likely in a “maybe pile.” (For the most part I just chose to withdrawal most outstanding queries.) This was the

I’m not participating, but if you’re pitching anything queer, bloody, and/or vampiric, let me know so I can take a look and support.💜🩸✨
I’m no longer

but I’m excited to read everyone’s pitches to see what books I’d like to read when they come out!💜
Trusting someone with a story you’ve put so much heart into can be a frightening prospect. My characters and their story are so very dear to me and I made a promise to myself that I would find the right home for them.

writers comp their work to a show? I query my story as The Vampire Diaries meets Grey’s Anatomy. Early on, I did comp to a book… but really, the best way to describe my story is a mix of those two beloved shows.
I read the guidelines for

I’m not participating but I’d like to show support if I read any interesting pitches.💜
Stats for the day:
Two rejections, one kind step aside, and one full request. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so many query responses in one day before.
The rejections suck. The step aside stung. The full is nice!
#amquerying
Querying is so strange. It feels like begging. “Please read my book and help me get it published.”
In any case… if any agents want a F/F romantasy, I’m your girl💜🌲🩸

My query tracker success story interview is up. I enjoy reading these, and it was cool to do one myself.
Guess the tittle of my book is no longer a secret. Oops.🙃🫀🩸

I just received a rejection on an email query I forgot I had even sent out😂😭 I only sent three or four email queries throughout my querying journey. Definitely an odd feeling being rejected after already signing with an agent.
I guess I’ll play.
Hello
#WritingCommmunity
I’m Kailen Renae! A queer, Hispanic, author who writes about paranormal, bloody, romantic things.
I’m also a nursing student, which takes up most of my time, so I write when I can. I’m signed with a wonderful agent and my biggest hope
I just got a query reply… I’ve been signed for three months😂 I didn’t think I’d be seeing the word “query” in my email, again. That was certainly a jump scare.
When an agents Manuscript Wishlist specifically states they don’t want anything with vampires… But what about a queer, morally grey vampire who falls in love with a human whose heart is failing?🙃

I’m receiving my third, and potentially last chemo shot tomorrow.
I’m already under the weather with flu/cold like symptoms and I know this will exacerbate that but I’m still looking forward to it because I’ve been in pain and I’m very much hoping this helps me feel better.
Just want to try to manifest one day, maybe, being able to go on a writing retreat. I am so short on both time and funds that I can’t imagine it happening anytime in the foreseeable future… but maybe someday. :,)
I’m no longer querying, and Emily and Charlotte aren’t quite ready for submission, so I’m not participating in

My goal/dream is actually to hopefully find a “baby agent” who wishes to give my manuscript a home. I quite like the idea of growing and reaching success together. I also feel as though a “baby agent” may have more time to devote to their clients.
Just my mindset.
@writerkayan
I love my story, and my characters. And I’ve received encouraging feedback from betas and fellow writers. But querying is really tearing me down. I could once say I believed in my story and felt that I just had to find the right home for it. But things have since become blurred
@AkkalonAS
Sometimes when it’s dark I’m not sure if my dog is on my left or my right. But I don’t worry about rolling onto her because she’s giant. I often use her as a leg rest and she doesn’t bat an eye😂
@Mayb33mine
I’m starting to feel like things just aren’t going to happen. I absolutely LOVE my story and my characters… but it’s very hard to stay hopeful.
Helped a friend with their manuscript and query today. As someone who primarily writes darker romantasy I definitely felt a bit out of my wheelhouse, but his book is so much fun and I have a feeling any PB agent is going to want to swipe it right up! Any

Most of my queries ended in rejection, as well. It was disheartening and there were times I contemplated shelving. It was my love of my characters that kept me going.
@LizzieBDarcy1
I’m a queer, Hispanic woman who wrote a paranormal romance😂 No ethnic or sexist struggle… Just a vampire fighting another vampire because she doesn’t want to lose the girl she loves🌲 Whoops.
I never know how to respond when asked if I’m a plotter or a panster. The MS I’m querying was the result of a dream I had. I never sat down and plotted things out, yet I knew exactly what was going to happen in the story. I didn’t plot… or pants. I took an extra sleeping pill

I need input, please! Rereading my edited manuscript and I feel I should change punctuation on something.
Currently I have: “Though, Washington was a long way from home. Home being Las Cruces, New Mexico. I was more than a little enthusiastic to get away.”
Reading over the questions for the QueryTracker success story interview and wondering if I should admit that what “inspired me” to write the book I’ve found representation for was a sleeping pill induced dream about a hot vampire💊🧛🏻♀️

Signed (and very gay) author here. You may be seeing more cis books being signed, because that will always be what’s more prevalent, but there are queer books out there getting picked up. I’m proof of that. I always recommend having your query critiqued. If it’s where your

A queer romantasy.
For over a century, Emily Hemlock's existence has meant little more than satisfying bloodlust. But when her coven meets Charlotte and realizes her heart is failing, they break the one rule set by their matriarch: never interfere with human life.
I’m past due for my chemo shot and I’ve been in a bit of pain the past couple of days. Gave in and took a pain killer and muscle relaxer. I’ll very likely be taking an impromptu nap due to this concoction. Once I awake I’m going to get some school work out of the way and then get

awesome picture book! Now Im sort of intrigued to read everyone’s pitches this Thursday.
I’ve deleted 770 words from my manuscript. Not an extraordinary amount, but I’m happy to have chipped out material that wasn’t moving my story forward. Giving myself a pat on the back!
So I used the name “Ophelia” as a stand in name for the main character of my WIP. My intention was to later go back and rename her… but now I like her name as is.🙃
@JanMiklas01
That’s how I feel about my entire manuscript at the moment😂 So many tiny tweaks have been made recently and I feel they improve the fluidity of the work. But even after editing I’m here analyzing every punctuation mark.
That’s a wrap on my

I just realized I’ve been querying for exactly three months. Though, I took a break when I went forth with professional editing. But still… three months. Trying to stay hopeful. I am determined to find the right home for my story💜🩸🌲
When your editor tells you that your character needs to feed her dog but you’re blanking on where (when) she should feed her dog because it will disrupt the flow of events… but also now you’re determined to get the dog fed.🙃
My 11 year old is working on an amazing fantasy novel and created her own blurbs. If Tolkien is calling your work, “wonderous,” you’re in a good spot. ✨✨✨
I only use “said” when necessary. I prefer action lines to be used in conjunction with dialogue. This shows the reader who is speaking, can help with characterization, and will often read more fluidly than using “said” which can be halting.
100% disagree! "said" is NOT invisible just because a bunch of people decided it is!
Many people I spoke to say it's jarring. & it's overuse of it definitely annoying in an audiobook since the narrator already does the different voices to show who's talking!
i see your publishers marketplace mug and raise you a publishers marketplace pillow. so i may literally rest my head on my dream.
10/10 would recommend.
