On November 29, 1988, six Kansas City Fire Fighters from KCFD Pumper 30 and KCFD Pumper 41 started their shift and would never return home. Overnight before the end of their shift they would perish from a tragic explosion.

Today we remember Billy W. Birmingham Sr. (Bill), an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). We lost Billy one year ago today to COVID-19. Billy touched the lives of countless people and moved so many with his selfless acts.

With heavy hearts, KCFD is announcing the passing of Firefighter Anthony “Tony” Santi while off duty on October 6, 2022. Tony started his career with KCFD in 2011. He will be deeply missed by all. Funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters at the Independence Fire Department and the family of the firefighter they lost today. We stand ready to help and support their department in any way we are needed.
KCFD joined first responders, MODOT, Heavy wreckers, and the like from around the metro for the Children's Mercy Parade of lights. In hopes of putting smiles on the faces of the kiddos.

This guy was rescued from a abandoned house fire last night. After spending the evening being pampered by one of our investigators between calls is now at the KC pet project at 4400 Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO. We would love to see him have a home for the holidays!!

In a moment of panic people often set their home on fire or burn themselves by pulling pans out of the oven when food catches fire. Simply KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED and TURN THE OVEN OFF.

15 years ago we lost a good one in the line of duty. We thank him for his service and honor his family for their sacrifice! He would certainly be proud of his son who carries on the McGowan name as a KCFD Captain.
20 years ago today KCFD battalion Chief John Tvedten gave his life while fighting a warehouse fire. We will never forget his service and sacrifice!
