Mayor Lucas met with KC2026 Transportation Director Jason Sims to preview ConnectKC26, Kansas City’s transit plan for the FIFA World Cup 2026™. With 215 buses serving 15 locations every 20 minutes and extended match-day hours, Kansas City is ready to keep fans moving.

To continue prioritizing snow operations and driver safety, Solid Waste services like trash, recycling, leaf & brush and bulky item collection will not take place on Tuesday, December 2. Tuesday’s services are postponed by one day.

For the fifth year straight, Kansas City received a perfect 100 on the Municipal Equality Index! This recognition highlights KC’s ongoing work toward creating a more inclusive city for all.

Mayor Lucas and the City Council passed updates to the Chronic Nuisance Ordinance. This gives the city faster, more effective tools to address violent offenses, hold property owners accountable, and strengthen public safety across Kansas City.

The Historic Ellison Hotel is open once again, now offering affordable housing for Kansas Citians. Built in 1926, the restored Ellison preserves KC history while expanding access to affordable, attainable housing.
