One of the most harmful & consequential bills for #txed of all time will be considered in a "formal hearing" with no testimony. It is a huge voucher bill that allows 70-80% of students to get private school tuition subsidized by our taxes and defund pub ed. Bad for TX! #txlege

Fact: the @TXlege spent $8.2 billion less on @txed than budgeted in 2021-23. Inflation was over 14%. There is a huge shortage of educators - morale at all-time low. Anything less than a 14% raise will be a net reduction in pay. This is the time to do better for public ed in TX

Vouchers are anti-civil rights legislation that will harm TX children. I visited the Capitol recently to talk w/ legislators, educators, & citizens about the racist origins of vouchers, discrimination against kids w/ disabilities, & failures in other states. @TexasAFT
