Why?????.
Vought has ordered a halt on all extramural NIH funding for the rest of the FY. No words. You cannot let this stand @SenateDems @SenateGOP @NIHDirector_Jay @hubermanlab . Trump Administration Puts New Chokehold on Billions in Health-Research.

Seems like end of an era for a lot of us scientists :( 4% payline is insane. this doesn't help anyone with cancer. While we are trying to find anything we can to improve GBM outcomes. this is what is happening. .
“With these considerations, we expect to fund through the 4th percentile.” . A crushing and utterly despicable blow to cancer research.

As a new PI who is trying very hard to make it, 6 is limiting. This includes all co PI grants as well. I never use AI. But have already submitted 4 grants this year and would like to resubmit 2 since none are fundable first try. So it makes it hard for junior faculty to survive.
Does anyone have any clear opinions on this? It does not say you cannot use AI, but be careful when submitting @NIH grants. You cannot submit more than 6 in a given year. I wish I could submit 6 in a year.

Sadly, this would mean the likely end of the field of Immunology. Things like the blood brain barrier, entry into tissues, process of memory generating and inter organ connections cannot be studied on a chip or using AI. So sad to see our dreams of discovery die. how to continue.
NIH announces end to funding for animal-only studies. This is potentially huge and needs clarification. Current NIH leaders may not understand the imposibility of making discoveries in fields like Immunology without in vivo models:.

We will not stop working until GBM patients have better prognosis. You are such an inspiration to all of us GBM researchers. I will continue to teach your case at my future classes and hope that one day we will make a difference in this devastating disease.
Unfortunately there is a larger volume of quickly growing brain cancer (glioblastoma, IDH WT, unmethylated etc) in my left brain. The prognosis is poor. Whilst some of my recurrent tumour was removed last week, some of it couldn’t be because of its site. While the neoadjuvant

When you get NONE of the grants this year, go back to the lab and be your own postdoc. An Immunologist's happy place. To getting some grants in 2025! #newPI

Another exciting finding from the awesome Peter Fecci lab! Very talented student/now postdoc Xanne Miggelbrink led this project! Cool new finding on how TNFR2 is a key player in CD8 T cell exhaustion! @PeterFecci @prtbtcatduke @Dukeneurosurg.
TNFR2 loss leads to decreased TOX expression in T cells without affecting TIM3 and improves responses to tumor and chronic LCMV #biorxiv_immuno.
