Thank YOU @RepHaleyStevens for meeting with us and for your continued partnership on behalf of our schools and students!
Thank you to the hard working @K12Michigan for making your way from Michigan to press law makers to fully fund special education in this country, in addition to free and reduced lunch, and ways to address the teacher shortage. Your partnership and work is so appreciated.

Schools across Michigan are facing unprecedented staff shortages. HB 4752 *could* help fix that, but, only if it is amended to remove an arbitrary salary cap that would limit teacher pay to only $10,000 per-calendar year. https://t.co/fmVssWqfNs

We appreciate the work @darrincamilleri & the committee has put into crafting a budget that invests in our public schools and targets resources to where they are most needed. This budget represents a great step forward for K-12 funding in Michigan.
Today, as chair of the PreK-12 budget, I introduced and passed the most progressive school budget in Michigan’s history. 💰$9700/pupil 📚Full funding of special ed ✏️Educator student loan forgiveness 👩🏽🏫Higher teacher salaries 🥪Universal school meals 👶🏼PreK for All

We know that kids struggle to learn when they are also struggling with hunger & ensuring that not a single student in our state has to go to school and face that reality is one of the best investments we can possibly make https://t.co/ujXVS85XuZ
For students to succeed they need more than just their instructional needs met; they also need a safe, and healthy learning environment. The FY24 #MIbudget invests in universal access to school lunch, school safety, and mental health supports.
