Astonishing evidence at the @covidinquiryuk. The Government repeatedly ignored offers from the Crick Institute to provide mass testing on a national scale. Instead, the Government paid Deloitte consultants to project manage, not yet established, privately run labs. 1/2

The peak outlier this week is Oxfordshire. Something has been wrong there for a month. They normally test plenty, but it's dropped to a trickle. 4/12

Andrew Gwynne has “urged caution against drawing conclusions from social media discussions about transmission routes”. He really doesn’t want you to share this thread ⬇️ which spells out all the evidence given at the Covid Inquiry. Twitter friends, you know what to do… 😉

COVID INQUIRY: X Megathread 🧵 As module 3 of the @covidinquiryuk draws to a close, I’ve been looking back at what we’ve learned about how it all went so wrong with infection control guidance for hospitals. This is a long thread, so please grab a cuppa & make yourself comfy…

Strap in. This letter from Andrew Gwynne @gwynnemp is pathetic and he should be ashamed to have written it. Let's break down the worst parts of it. TLDR: If you have Long Covid, you're not going to get any help from this guy.

Q: Why isn't @GwynneMP pushing for #CleanAir to reduce transmission of #Covid during the ongoing pandemic and to reduce the number of ppl developing #LongCovid #LongCovidKids ? A: Andrew supports the opinion that Covid is NOT predominantly transmitted through the airborne route.

England has two potential megacity urban areas. Both about 20 million people. Both 200km across. We've already built the blue circle, centred on London, a very strong economy. We could built the red one if we wanted. Currently it's a very weak economy.

If you are unwell with any winter virus or COVID-19, staying at home to recover is usually the best option. Doing that also helps reduce transmission in the community. If you do need to go into an indoor setting, a well-fitting mask can help protect others around you. (1/2)

Have you ever felt a film scene was particularly memorable or beautiful? To be sure, much of this is about cinematography and acting, but I want to show how outfits also contribute to this impression. Hopefully, this thread will give you some ideas on how to dress better. 🧵

So Rupert Murdoch, spreads climate change denial through his media empire, simply because he is totally ignorant of science, and can't be bothered to educate himself about his total lack of knowledge. Completely unbelievable. 1/🧵

Two decades ago, researchers started an experiment that would challenge the prevailing scientific understanding of plant communities. While modern agriculture treats diversity as inefficient, the Jena Experiment proved the opposite: complexity is the key to resilience.

I'm a teacher, so I take work home with me. These lines - no. They soon fade. But with 1 week to go, I don't want to bring home #ChristmasFever Usually I write about how easy it is to wear a mask. But this🧵is about how hard it is, and how to understand why others don't mask.
