Believe in your children, let them know they are capable of achieving a lot more than they think they do, even when when their immediate world makes them feel they are less than capable

Even though the hearth and the mind not always move as one, it makes no sense to educate one and ignore the other.

You don’t have to be an administrator, grade level chair, or department head to be a leader in you school. Your title doesn’t matter. You just need to care about making it better. Passion and commitment can transform any culture.

As a math teacher the greatest challenge is to convince students of their mathematical talents. Yet even knowing we need to spend a significant amount of time building students self steam, most of the time we do not mainly because of we focus the content.

I firmly believe that It is decades past due. It is critical to be conscious and recognize the problem of racism in our school and society to then take the necessary steps to confront and solve this delicate problem!

"It is time for teachers to do the brave work of embracing their internal discomfort to make space for the critical consciousness required to shift the pervasive racist and anti-Black culture within our schools," says @ShannonRWaite5. #EWopinion

Admiting we are not perfect and show students that it’s ok to make mistakes is very powerful. It is very human to recognize mistakes as long as we give a chance to correct them!

Students buy into teachers who are genuine and honest. Admitting you don't know an answer or allowing a student to correct your mistakes go a long way in building a connected classroom.

These books options may offer a chance to be inspired, recharge and learn. After a quick search I decided on “Teach Like a Pirate” as my summer read!

“Make sure to create space for your child to feel however they need to feel about what you’re discussing — they may be angry, sad or scared.” These books can help keep the conversation going about race and racism in the long run.—via @NYTParenting https://t.co/avYlKG6B8P

Will do my best to join to hear and share our view on this delicate topic. The need to reflect and take action during historic difficult moments is now equally or greater than before.

#caedchat is postponing the Great Monster chat to next Sunday, and asking all of our followers to reflect on questions we need to be asking ourselves and actions we as educators need to do to assist in eliminating racism. That is what we will now discuss tomorrow at 8pm, 5/31
