Congrats to PermitFlow on the $54M raise. I’m glad to see investment in the space, but I’m still skeptical of the value proposition. I’ve talked with multiple VCs about the problem PermitFlow is trying to solve and I always come back to one simple point: The true bottleneck

This new law enforcement sobering center marks a fundamental change in San Francisco: If you do drugs on our streets, we will arrest you. And with this new resource, we will give you a real chance to enter recovery.
Mayor Daniel Lurie is hoping a new, coercive approach can help officers tackle open-air drug use in San Francisco while getting more people off the streets and connected to addiction treatment.

Why move to Texas when you can just move to the Eastside? Long this trend if Seattle stays its current course.

Amazon, TikTok and OpenAI are among the firms taking office space in Bellevue, Wash., where rents are higher than in Seattle.

There is nothing worse than working with USPS to get mailbox locks ordered and installed. Complete brain damage. A terribly run organization.

Just asked ChatGPT to review a title report and recording docs. Mind blown. Unprompted, it offered a critical path checklist and a title objection letter at the end.

We took a hard look at our permitting, licensing, and certification processes — and we slashed red tape, cleared unnecessary backlogs, and fixed systems that hadn’t been looked at in years. Now it takes just 3 days to get a business license instead of 8 weeks. You can get a new

Kyra, I’m hoping you missed the fact that 1/3 of people refused to come indoors when offered a brand new apartment with en-suite bathroom, kitchenettes, three meals per day, and other services. Otherwise, it sounds like you are proposing that we let hundreds if not thousands more

Consistent feedback we hear from police and shelter providers in Seattle - Tacoma area: there are plenty to beds and units, but the requirement is to be drug free. Those who are still on the street are largely doing so because they refuse to get clean. Widely unknown fact.

What every voter should know about housing policy 1. Rents reflect the balance of supply of apartments and demand for those apartments in a given area. That’s it; there’s no magic. If you want lower rents, you can hope for a recession that destroys jobs and, therefore, demand.

How much is our foreign policy driving inflation? Haven’t heard anyone talk about this. If you’ve seen a good analysis, please share.

I've been talking to a lot of capital providers this year. One common theme: Capital is taking the time to vet the operations of GP's like I've never seen before. In a high-interest rate environment, where operations become evermore critical, "lipstick on a pig" is no longer

I had a great call with @ScottChoppin last week. An absolute wealth of knowledge when it comes to Affordable/affordable housing, townhome development and working with local housing authorities. We build a similar market rate product and he was incredibly generous with his time.

Given all the talk about insurance rates in Florida skyrocketing, I present this tweet from 2019.
@brackin Insurance companies will lead the way in Florida as well. Want flood insurance for your home in Miami? Good luck paying those premiums. Don’t think climate change is real? Ask your insurance provider.
