In June, @MaraRevkin, @JonPetkun, and I wrote for @ForeignAffairs about what a progressive internationalist foreign policy might look like and how restraint and retrenchment are necessary for progressive outcomes in some domains but counterproductive in others.
Megan Stewart, @JonPetkun, and @MaraRevkin make the case for the responsible use of American power to promote progressive values around the world: https://t.co/svAT4mllZS

Really grateful to @emilysbremer for engaging with our piece and for this very thoughtful review! We still have time for edits, so feedback is most welcome!
Over at @IReadJotwell, I review a terrific new article on "The Judicial Administrative Power" by @JonPetkun & Joseph Schottenfeld, which is forthcoming in the @GWLawReview: /1

Grateful to our research partners @IOMSouthSudan for a productive and humbling 2 weeks seeing one of the most severe & complex humanitarian crises in the worldโone that is not getting nearly as much international attention & aid as it needs (a $1.2B funding gap). Thread ... 1/5

Really proud of this short new piece with Megan Stewart @fordschool & @MaraRevkin @DukeLaw, out now in @ForeignAffairs. The stakes are high, and we try to engage other viewpoints with a ton of respect & care. https://t.co/DJ1JgIa7s1

Just overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement that I'll get to learn with and from the students, faculty, and staff @DukeLaw. Lemur-hanger-outer @DukeLemurCenter would have been the true dream job but teaching civ pro is a close second!
.@JonPetkun, a @USMC veteran who holds a PhD from @MITEcon and uses large-scale data sets to study the legal and economic organization of public institutions, to join the Duke Law faculty as an associate professor of law. https://t.co/tbWKzDEgRY

We're just so grateful for the opportunity! We're excited to be junior colleagues to so many amazing scholars (@DukeLaw and throughout academia) and we can't wait to meet our students in the fall!
.@JonPetkun & I are thrilled to be joining @DukeLaw as associate professors! We are so grateful for the support of our advisors, families & friends (+ a LOT of good luck in a tough academic job market) that helped us get here & excited to start paying it forward to our students!

I went to Iraq and all I did was lose a war and grow a mustache.ย @MaraRevkin's been there for a roughly equivalent amount of time andย she's written a stunningly good job market paper, all while doingย painstaking and important work on behalf of vulnerable refugees. Hire her!
I'm excited to be back @GeorgetownLaw today (and on the 2021-22 law teaching market w/ this paper!), returning from a service leave from academia supporting @UNIraq in Baghdad, but honored to continue that work remotely as I try to put my research on peace-building into practice:

Overcoming my fear of Twitter to say: Iโm excited to be on the law teaching market! My research & teaching interests are in civil procedure, law & econ, courts, access to justice, tax, employment/labor, & veterans law. Website & JMP, "Nudges for Judges": https://t.co/JYp719nFzS.

Co-sign. (And also just oh jeez where to begin...)
Setting aside the inaccuracy of everything about this, the entire idea of civilian control of the military is that the military should be responsive to something other than itself and that that responsiveness is essential for peaceful democracy.

Super niche #EconTwitter Q, but in Atom/Hydrogen, anyone know how to interactively run a script that requires i/o (e.g. input() in python)? Hydrogen gives me a field for input, but the prompt is displayed in the editor, and the editor is greyed out/locked until I enter the input!
@lukestein @wsandholtz @Stata @alvcarril @wsandholtz, @alvcarril later posted an intro on using Atom and Hydrogen, which he decided was better than Sublime. He never updated that post to include Stata though.
