I look forward to working with @EACgov to ensure that the election regulations & policies of our country serve to protect one of our most fundamental rights as citizens– to have a voice in our own governance, the right to vote.

This work made me acutely aware of the impact of voting regulations on ordinary citizens seeking to realize enfranchisement.

As the Chair of the Alabama State Advisory Committee to the @USCCRgov from 2016-2020, I had the privilege to investigate and author a report that exposed barriers to voting in Alabama.

I am honored and deeply humbled to be nominated by the Democratic members of @USCCRgov to the Election Assistance Commission @EACgov and to receive bipartisan support to serve.

This Bill will have a devastating effect. I know there is a lot going on right now, but this is an assault on already vulnerable children's very identities. It comes up on Wed. (2/10). Let your AL reps know this is not acceptable, it's horrifying.

If you haven't seen it yet, AL HB1 ( https://t.co/FBbb1GJNNL), euphemistically named "The Alabama Vulnerable Child Compassion & Protection Act", prohibits medical care (including hormone therapy) "intended to alter the appearance of the minor child's gender or delay puberty."

So nice to see @RepTerriSewell as I watch the impeachment proceedings reminding me what responsible representation looks like in Alabama. Take note @RepMoBrooks and Sen Tommy Tuberville -- y'all might learn something.

George Washington thought about crossing the Delaware, but then he decided to go home because he was afraid of the danger to himself and his family. Right.

Finally, if you ever doubted that criminal systems fall more harshly on the poor and the marginalized, what we heard this morning and earlier lays this bare. The "law and order" caucus have twisted themselves to excuse, condone and applaud this behavior. This is not patriotism.

Call this out for what it is. It was a call for insurrection and we cannot act surprised when you organized, funded and called for this to happen. The violence we witnessed, the harm to the democracy, is a product of your words.

Others have said it, so let me add mine to their voices, if you won't impeach this President for what he has done, if you won't hold other elected officials accountable, you have no business governing our nation.

Listening to Republicans claim that there is "no evidence" that President Trump incited insurrection makes me wonder where these folks were during my clients' threats & conspiracy trials? How many times did I hear prosecutors say "words matter"?
