On this day, in 2002, 20 years ago… The Red Wings won their third Stanley Cup in 6 years. There were TEN Hall of Famers on that team, one of the greatest assemblages of players ever.
Today, Chris Chelios has his number retired by the Blackhawks. We found this. 25 years ago this week! A chat with Michael Jordan on the night his pal, Cheli returned to Chicago… as a Red Wing.
Sigh. Just a week or so after I posted a video of this old girl bounding happily into Lake Michigan, we said goodbye to Maggie today. A sweet, beautiful life spent “swimmingly” until it’s end. Rest easy, Maggs…
In advance of the Red Wings season that starts Friday, we took our “headshot” pics today. Look at the necktie one of us brought out of the closet. Lol I guess he missed me…
What a wild, yet sudden ending to the Red Wings season for us all. Just a joy I have to work with this group of pros… Mick, Ken, Murph, Trev, our behind the scenes crew and yeah, I guess Ozzie. 😎 We appreciate the passion all the viewers had this season for our broadcasts…
Gordie Howe’s about 45 here and it appears he doesn’t feel like going into the boards at this particular juncture in the game. The personification of old man strength.
So… when your knuckleheaded TV partner has a case of the giggles during a commercial break… but you have professional TV copy to read coming out of it, you just have to turn away from him. Lol

When I moved back to Detroit to work at PASS Sports, I recall saying to myself, “Oh, I can’t take this job and work with Ernie Harwell- He’s way up HERE!” It turned out, Ernie was as down to earth as the best of us. We lost him on this day in 2010. He’s resting now with Lulu.
Oh man. Kids in yellow have been affected by pediatric cancer. Sawyer Gipson-Long is making his MLB debut today but still had the presence of mind to honor the kid on the mound. Have a day, young man.
Great to catch up with the new play by play voice of the Tigers, Jason Benetti. A big time hire. Tiger fans will love him. You’ll hear his conversation with his Wings counterpart, Ken Daniels on Red Wings Live at 6:30 on

Sending prayers to our pal, Mario Impemba,

whose mom, Rose has passed away at the age of 89. She was so proud of her kid. Best to the family in a tough week. She’ll be laid to rest on Friday. The reminder to all? Hug your Mom today.
It’s a long story as to why we had a “prom picture” of Mick and Dolly Parton in Ozzy’s Shack for our Wings rinkside broadcast last night but it was kinda TV gold. Lol
Two years ago tonight, we were delighted to have Dave Strader back at the Joe. Sadly, we lost him. But on that night, that smile back with his old partner, Mick, gave us all a huge lift. He’s missed mightily.
The 14 year old Lab, Maggie going for her daily swim. Walking is tough for her but she still loves to get in the water… Just on her own, disappears and goes for a dip. Lol
It’s not why we do it but it’s always nice to receive another one of these. The Emmy for my part as host of our production of Miguel Cabrera’s historic game last summer. A full heart.
We mourn the passing of Jim Price, a treasured member of the Tigers organization for decades.
He spent all five years of his playing career wearing the Olde English ‘D’, including the 1968 World Series championship season.
Congrats to Miguel Cabrera! 500th HR in Toronto just now. Great ovation from the Blue Jays fans at Tigers Centre. All the reaction coming up after the game on Tigers Live!
Last one for awhile. Heading back tomorrow to get ready for hockey. Rain to the south and north but this sunset in between the clouds, literally lit up the beach…

Proud to be a part of this hard-working crew! They overcame lots of challenges and teamed up to present our annual Ozzy’s Shack Rinkside broadcast around the Red Wings game tonight. A tough Wings loss but tons of laughs along the way.
It wasn’t the career that many envisioned he’d have but the Tigers probably wouldn’t have had Miguel Cabrera without including Maybin as a trade piece in deal with Marlins. It was cool that he came back to Detroit. Good dude. All the best in next chapter…
Jim Leyland just admitted to some tears when he received the phone call tonight that he was going into The Baseball Hall of Fame. This picture hangs in my office. The Tigers had just won their way to the World Series. He’s on his players shoulders and I’m awaiting interviews…
Happy Birthday to this beauty. Mick won’t be with us tonight when the Wings play in Minnesota but I’d bet his birthday might get a mention. 🍻Cheers, Mickey Redmond!
7 years ago today, 105 thousand jammed into The Big House in Ann Arbor to watch the Red Wings and Maple Leafs. Shoulder to shoulder. It was a frozen, fun party. Here’s to getting back to these kinds of days!
It’s not why we do it but it’s always appreciated and humbling to learn you’ve been recognized for your work. The Writing Emmy always means a little more to me…
