. Some of my tweets are decent. It's okay to admire long home runs. And

(s) are good for the game.
I knew this day was coming, knew I’d never be ready for it.
Miguel Cabrera is the main reason I fell in love with the Tigers and baseball as a whole. Before social media, I heard about the December 2007 trade via a family member who followed the team much closer than I did at
Five years ago today, J.D. Martinez turned the very first pitch he saw off the IL into the second biggest home run in Comerica Park history.
Chills, every single time.
Miguel Cabrera from 2009-2016:
.330/.412/.578
.989 OPS / 166 OPS+
38 2B / 34 HR / 113 RBI per avg season
That was his AVERAGE season. An absolutely unstoppable hitter in his prime.
Alright
@tigers
, I know this is a bit down the road, but this (his 300th home run) gets my vote as the image/sculpture to use for the inevitable Miguel Cabrera statue in left-centerfield.

Can’t believe the “fans” that want to push Miguel Cabrera out the door in his final season.
He’s the greatest Tigers hitter you’re ever going to see and he has roughly 200 at-bats left in his career, show some damn respect.
Seven years ago today, in his first at-bat off the IL, J.D. Martinez pinch hit to lead off the 8th inning in a tie game. And, well, you know the rest.
I don’t think Comerica has ever been louder.
should Jack Morris get canned for what he said tonight? yeah
should Jack Morris have gotten canned over two years ago because he’s a shitty color commentator? also yeah
Miguel Cabrera might have just had his last All-Star at bat, but I couldn’t watch it because fucking David Ortiz was too busy babbling on my TV screen.
Yesterday was undoubtedly the greatest sporting event I’ve ever attended, and I’m not sure much will upstage it.
Also, Comerica Park is such a cool venue when we pack it full of fans. I hope we do a lot more of that next season.
Well.. that’s that.
I predicted 74-88, they went 78-84. Finished 39-34 post-ASB.
Miguel’s retirement had me in shambles, as expected. Torkelson figured it out. Greene, Carpenter, and Meadows back for a full season. Skubal looked like one of the best pitcher in baseball.
And
2023 Detroit Tigers:
*gets swept with a -18 run differential to start the season*
*gets their first win against the reigning World Series champions*
Baseball.
This is probably my favorite memory of Jim Leyland as Tigers’ manager.
On the night they clinched their third consecutive AL Central title, he could’ve just as easily been in the clubhouse celebrating with the rest of the team.
But there he is, sitting and pouring his heart out
#OTD
in 2007, Miguel Cabrera was acquired from the Florida Marlins.
From 2008-2016, his AVERAGE season was:
153 G
186 H
38 2B
34 HR
.325/.405/.573 .973
161 OPS+
Greatest Tigers hitter ever.
This is the moment that repeatedly gets to me.
Even with his sunglasses on, you can immediately tell when Miguel begins to choke up, as he turns to see his children accompanying A.J. Hinch to remove him from the game. 🥲

The 2022 Detroit Tigers:
- Opening Day was fun
- Miguel Cabrera’s 3,000th hit
- Tarik Skubal
- the bullpen has ironically been great
That’s it. Practically nothing else to write home about.
Chris Davis randomly deciding to hit 53 home runs in 2013, spoiling Miguel Cabrera’s second consecutive Triple Crown, and then forgetting how to hit a baseball immediately after
Javier Báez wins a 12-pitch battle against John Brebbia. He drives in two runs with a double to left field in the eighth inning, cutting the

' deficit to 6-5.
On June 4th of last year, Spencer Torkelson had four home runs.
He took the weight off his shoulders yesterday, and this season is still absolutely salvageable.
Don’t let this kid get hot.

Miguel Cabrera hit his final career home run at Comerica Park.
You’re probably thinking: “Big deal, we already knew this”, right?
Well, the location in which it landed/struck the old outfield wall in right-centerfield has given me an idea.
Stay tuned. 👀💡
Remember when the Tigers traded Justin Verlander and J.D. Martinez, but the light at the end of the tunnel was rebuilding a contender and giving an aging Miguel Cabrera one last shot at a Tigers’ ring?
Hah, how silly of us.
Two years ago today. This home run remains one of, if not thee most improbable big fly I’ve ever watched.
I mean, to come off the DL and hit a homer in your first AB is one thing, but first pitch? Off CHRIS SALE!?
This is in 1988 Kirk Gibson territory.
It’ll never cease to amaze me the amount of Tiger fans who never hesitate to dump on Miguel Cabrera whenever he gets injured. It’s almost like they’re praying for his careers’ demise.
He’s the best Tigers hitter you’re ever going to see, try giving him the benefit of the doubt.
If Miguel Cabrera didn’t call Comerica Park (and it’s massive center field) home, he’d be approaching 600 home runs, not 500. And I don’t think that’s much of a stretch.
