Our latest report shows NZs energy sector is leading the way in reducing emissions. Shoutout to signatories like @omv for cutting their emissions by 55% & Todd Energy for pioneering fugitive emissions surveys with Quantitative Optical Gas Imaging.

Another practical, user-led tour de force from the @WgtnCC planning dept. Bus stop seats at one of Wgtn most popular bus stops on Lambton Quay a metre outside of the veranda cover - exposed to the rain. So as useless as the proverbials in bad weather

New Zealand has excelled in geothermal for decades, and it's exciting to see us joining the U.S. and Iceland in advancing supercritical technology (SCGT). Great work @gnsscience

NZ join US, Iceland advancing supercritical geothermal tech. The Taupō Volcanic Zone offers rich SCGT resource with geothermal heat @ shallow depth. Thanks to cutting-edge tech from @gnsscience Kiwis could eventually access abundant, reliable energy

There’s no room for bottom lines in consensus building. It takes understanding, openness & a willingness to collaborate and compromise around a set of key guardrails. This will still allow for distinct policy settings. Are our politicians up to it? @chrisluxonmp @chrishipkins

CEO @JohnCarnegie7 had the pleasure talking to @SeanPlunket about the energy groups worried about the massive damage to investor confidence caused by its breakdown in 2018 by the oil and gas permit ban and their call for cross party consensus across both gas & electricity sectors

Our energy shortages result from policy failures. All political parties should negotiate in good faith to restore the confidence to invest in all forms of energy #crosspartyconsensus #energysecurity #investmentconfidence #justtransition

Time for NZ politicians to #buildbridges in the best interests of all NZers - and bring back bipartisanship on energy policy. Enough closures, job losses and missed investment @mangonui08 @SimeonBrownMP @SimonCourtACT @Megan_Woods @chrishipkins #unjusttransition #energysecurity

It’s known NZ doesn’t have its #trilemma balance right, but our new Govt is facing this head on, opting for a back to basics approach on #affordability & #energy security, looking to revitalise the gas sector by encouraging investment as a key element of this #NZopenforbusiness

Valuable lessons here for New Zealand from how the @netzero_tc has been established, its mandate & work programme. Critically it allows for x-sector collaboration. @JudithCollinsMP @ShaneJones_MP @SimeonBrownMP @gnsscience #energytrilemma #lowcarbontechology #collaboration

Collaboration is critical on the journey to low emissions. Especially collaboration on development of new low CO2 technology & @netzero_tc specialises in this. Our CEO @JohnCarnegie7 was delighted to be hosted by them as he heard about its work programme https://t.co/MHoKzqo47G

Alarm bells are already ringing in the sector this year around the absence of available natural gas - there are some significant unmet demand and electricity security risks that we will simply need gas to fill in the coming decades. #energysovereignty

Govt's shift towards diverse energy types & the potential reopening of offshore exploration are positive steps forward, but the decline in natural gas signals an urgent need for solutions to ensure energy security. https://t.co/REwG6lNWBi @ShaneJones_MP @SimeonBrownMP @cjsbishop

Natural gas is needed to keep the lights on and energy affordable while we scale up renewables. But to allow gas to play this role we need urgent action to allow our declining gas fields to be replenished and replaced. Urgency is needed @mangonui08

We welcome the granting of a new exploration block. But the govt must now follow up with urgency to repeal the ban & simplify the onerous decommissioning laws to lower sovereign risk and revitalise the gas mrkt. https://t.co/pernHokmC3 @SimeonBrownMP @mangonui08 @cjsbishop
