The attack on Winston Peters home today was totally unacceptable. MPs homes are not the place to protest. No matter the cause, political violence is never ok and should be condemned. Free speech is healthy in a democracy, political violence is not.

Nigel Latta was a Kiwi icon and legend. I’m saddened to hear of his passing and my thoughts go out to his wife Natalie and their children. He was a regular on TV screens and in households right around the country — such pragmatism, grace and personability. He will be missed.

Government is about choices — and every choice a Govt makes reveals what it truly cares about. Luxon’s choices are clear: property speculators ahead of families, overseas investors ahead of small business owners, fossil fuel companies ahead of lowering your power bills.

47,300 Kiwis have left for Australia to find work that should be available right here at home. Labour will ensure everyone can build a future in NZ — with good jobs that pay enough to support you and your family.

UK, Canada, Australia & 26 other countries have signed a joint statement calling for unimpeded humanitarian aid access to #Gaza. NZ has not signed it. This is beyond embarrassing. It’s utterly disgraceful. People are starving. Where is our govt’s moral compass?

Christopher Luxon promised to make life better. The truth is costs are going up — and his Government is making it worse.

So according to Nicola Willis people concerned about rising unemployment are “glass half empty” and people who have lost their jobs “shouldn’t take it personally”. Could she be any more out of touch?!

Today, thousands of nurses stood up for patient safety and care. They reminded us of what’s at stake when you underfund and understaff hospitals, while choosing to give $300 million in tax breaks to tobacco companies.

We need a Government focused on building the future. Since National took office, 18,000 people have lost their jobs in construction, with many heading overseas to find work. Labour will bring certainty, so people can keep their jobs and build a future in New Zealand.

Preventing people from enrolling to vote during advance voting is a draconian measure that could rob tens of thousands of Kiwis of their democratic right to vote, and there is no good reason for it. It’s anti-democratic.

No one should have to leave their country to build a future. Labour will be focused on rebuilding opportunity here at home while easing the pressure households are feeling right now.
