Thank you Bjorn Lomborg for your insights - how to get the most benefit by investing in Best Things First. ACT was chuffed to host Bjorn and Roland from Copenhagen Consensus Centre at Parliament this week, to present to around 80 guests. BCR key to good decision making!

All this while New Zealanders shiver in the cold, unable to pay their power bills and threatened with blackouts. We need MORE power generation. That requires freedom to build, and ditching the rubbish.

And when a contractor shows up to put in a new fence or plant some natives around this solar project in Rangitāiki, they’re required to be briefed on the cultural significance of the area.

Nearby, a resource consent for another solar farm which could power 18,000 homes demanded this level of painstaking detail for every minor landscaping decision. This is what kills projects before they even start. The company behind it has gone into liquidation.

The crazy thing is: a 21kW solar setup requires a consent with many of the same conditions as a 52,000,000kW solar farm in CHB. If big players struggle with the cost of this, imagine what it’s like for a smaller business wanting to simply install panels to power their business.

Another case study in regulatory insanity. In rural Central Hawke’s Bay, a resource consent for a solar farm that could power around 7,500 homes came with conditions like these.

Resource consent needed for a third dog - the RMA has been weaponised and misused. Another (bizarre) example of why ACT campaigned to replace the RMA with a system based on property rights. Legislation will be in the House late 2025, passed by mid-2026.

The Government will require Auckland to allow even greater housing and development around City Rail Link stations, ensuring that Auckland takes economic advantage of this transformational investment in the city - Like that?.

I don't follow a religion - but glad to see you share my concerns about how easily people can be won over to murderous beliefs against a different group.

I wrote an extensive essay at high school on the markers of Fascism, how a populace can be willingly won over to its more murderous facets. Organised religions such as the type @SimonCourtACT etc follow is a key component that allows race based murder to occur.

an event, when their supposed allies in places like Iran and Gaza would happily murder people for daring to show their hair or dance in public. Yet they celebrate the Iranian and Palestinian terrorist groups who orchestrated the murder of 400 people at the Nova festival in Israel.

No matter what we think about the actions of governments and leaders in any conflict, we need to focus on the people who are stuck in the middle. If the Glastonbury audience was even the slightest bit self aware they would have recognised their unique privilege in attending such.

Big Day Outs in New Zealand and Australia, and so much more. Never in that time have I ever heard anyone call for harm to anyone, let alone the elimination of a nation and its armed forces. There is a terrible anti-Semitic mind virus running through the left in Western countries.

I have felt sickened and revolted by the Glastonbury crowds chanting death to Israeli soldiers (mostly conscripts) and the extermination call "river to the sea". I've spent nearly 40 years at gigs and festivals. From informal raves on abandoned Norfolk airbases, Entrain (yes!).

From the resource consent for IKEA in Sylvia Park. This is the kind of fluff that ties up consenting processes and makes everything we do slow and costly in New Zealand.

People who glue their hands to the road and block Wellington traffic had to be consulted on design. That is just one batty project condition out of 189 pages of "don't". ACT campaigned to replace the RMA and in government, we are doing it.
