Great to host an event in Parliament with @StampOutSpiking today - joined by @Drinkaware, @Diageo, @AskAngela, PCCs, and national security and transport firms to raise awareness of spiking. We heard from academics at @cardiffuni who shared new data on the prevalence and impact

The Government is restricting Civil Service Fast Stream internships in favour of people it deems to be “working class”. What about the children of hard-working teachers, police officers, and nurses - who now may miss out because of this decision? The Minister had no answers to

Spiking is a serious, complex and growing problem. The Government’s new law fails to close a major loophole - reckless or so-called “prank” spiking isn’t properly covered. I’m working with MPs and Lords to fix this. It shouldn’t matter whether someone intended harm - if they

If true, this tax raid is going to cripple primary care. People are already struggling to see a GP without this added financial strain to services. The Chancellor’s budget looks like it’s going to trash our country even more than her last.

1/ The Health Secretary and Chancellor are squabbling about who pays for the £1.3 billion staff redundancy bill in their NHS reorganisation. I asked for a guarantee that not a single penny would be raided from front line health services. The dodgy Health Secretary dodged the

That is why I signed the Hospice UK letter to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, calling for action on the four-point plan for fair hospice funding. It’s unacceptable that, while hospices operate as charities providing a public service, they are not exempt from

An £80m boost for children’s hospices is welcome - but it’s nowhere near enough. Rising costs, unstable donations, and limited government funding are pushing hospice services to the brink.

A terrible decision. Football and sport has enormous power to unite. This decision gives in to the forces of hatred and division. Are we seriously saying that in modern Britain we cannot guarantee the safety of Jewish people on our streets and in our sports grounds? I'm not OK

AstraZeneca’s UK chief warns investment could grind to a halt without greater certainty and faster access to new medicines. Ministers can’t afford to stall. The UK needs a coherent medicines strategy that supports both patients and innovation. What we have now isn’t working.

Figures this week reveal that 5,000 people are being signed off work every day. The fit note system is too rigid and it’s failing. GPs should be supported and incentivised to help people return to work. Time to move from a “sick note” culture to a “support-to-work” culture.

Another gimmick without a plan. What powers will these new “health welfare officers” actually have and where will they go? GP surgeries are already at capacity. If Labour want to help patients, they should start by focusing on engaging the thousands of qualified GPs currently

The state now expected to teach reading, maths… and potty training? This is what happens when personal responsibility is replaced by dependency culture. And people wonder why the system’s stretched - it’s picking up jobs that used to be called parenting.

Unemployment up, again. Vacancies down, again. Young people hit hardest, again. Labour hiked taxes on jobs and destroyed business confidence. This is the result. Businesses create growth. Only @Conservatives have a plan for the economy built on work not welfare.
