Responding to the publication of alcohol-specific deaths registered in the UK in 2023 by the ONS, Drinkaware’s CEO, Karen Tyrell, said "Alcohol-specific deaths have been rising sharply since 2019 and today’s statistics show another rise, taking us to a depressing new high." 🧵⬇️.

In 2023, there were 10,473 deaths from alcohol-specific causes registered in the UK, the highest number on record. This is 4.2% higher than in 2022 and 38.4% higher than in 2019, the last pre #COVID19 pandemic year. ➡️
