Ja Morant signs the largest contract in team history and then days later is coaching up dudes from the bench at Summer League in Utah. Leadership isn’t just words. It’s actions.
Shannon Sharpe basically said he started talking trash to Dillon, Dillon (predictably) responds with escalation, Dillon’s friends/teammates took his side, and he got mad. Don’t start none, won’t be none.
The Memphis Grizzlies have won 50 games. It’s March 23rd. They’re 15-2 without their best player.
Taylor Jenkins is the Coach of the Year. Debate your pet.
The Memphis Grizzlies are ripping apart the Los Angeles Lakers. And instead of how awesome Memphis is, “what’s wrong with LeBron’s Lakers?” will be the headline.
Nothings wrong. They’re just getting their asses kicked.
The Memphis Grizzlies are the model NBA franchise and America’s Team. Ja Morant is the light in the small market darkness. It’s a beautiful time. And some of y’all wanted to fire the coach and trade the 22-year-old unicorn two months ago lolz
I am sure the halftime show will focus on how unfocused the Warriors are and not the fact that the young Memphis Grizzlies just kicked Golden State’s ass for 24 minutes of basketball.
One of my favorite things about this series is Warriors fans not understanding how Memphis is much different from the rest of Tennessee. Makes for entertaining insults.
The Memphis Grizzlies having a Christmas Day game is a watershed moment for the franchise. With Ja Morant in Memphis for the next six years, it’s the first game for the Grizzlies on the NBA’s biggest regular season stage…but it won’t be the last.
Those people saying Shannon Sharpe would destroy Steven Adams have clearly never been around Steven Adams. I - a long time ago having been within a close proximity to Steven Adams - can assure you that Mr. Sharpe would not have much success in that fight.
The Memphis Grizzlies are somehow 9-1 in their last 10 games and are arguably the hottest team in the NBA.
Ja Morant going through his situation.
Steven Adams out.
Brandon Clarke out.

People who trash Memphis, in my experience, usually fit in 1 of 3 categories.
1. Have never been and allow prejudices and fears of others dictate their opinions.
2. Are racist.
3. Had a bad experience - one that can be had in any city or metropolitan area - and can’t move on.
Murray State’s Ja Morant, a “washed” Steven Adams, a one D-1 scholarship offer Desmond Bane, a “too old, too short” Brandon Clarke, a “who the hell is that” pick Santi Aldama, a “here to be traded” Jarrett Culver, an “injured in college” Killian Tillie…
Memphis leads by 16.
Ja Morant is the most important prospect in the history of the Memphis Grizzlies franchise. The first “you can compete for a title with that dude as the head of the snake” guy they’ve had.
It’s one game of 82. Not too high. Not too low. On to the next one.
The Memphis Grizzlies may be the
#2
seed in the Western Conference Playoffs AND have a late lottery pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
A remarkable job from the top down in the entire organization. No team in the NBA combines the present with future possibilities like the Grizzlies.
Good morning to only those that have watched the Memphis Grizzlies consistently this season and therefore understand that Jaren Jackson Jr. playing fewer minutes than his DPOY candidate counterparts is not largely because of foul trouble.
I look forward to Ja Morant’s redemption arc that’s coming. He’s young and more than capable of making the changes needed to ensure a long and successful life and career. I hope he takes all the time he needs and wish him the best.
Jaren Jackson Jr. Desmond Bane. Gut check time
It’s Stephen Curry and Ja Morant right now at point guard in the NBA. They’re the top-2. That’s super cool to be able to say and not sound like a crazy person.
Did some research about Marcus Smart the person - a great fit for what the Memphis Grizzlies need. This dude invests in his community. He supports kids and families in need. He helped establish a family environment in the locker room in Boston.
He is EXACTLY what Memphis needs.
Saw Ja Morant give his shoes to a young fan. Memphis is so lucky - from the Core Four to this. I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, lightning has struck twice for the Grizzlies. Organic, real love is rare in modern pro sports. Morant is well on his way. Kudos - Ja gets it.
The disdain for Dillon Brooks is sad. I remember what he had to be in his rookie year, his toughness. You can trade other pieces to improve the team besides Dillon. Can even keep Dillon and get an OG Anunoby (will cost more in picks).
I’m staying on Dillon Brooks Island.
I’ll be honest and admit that I was worried about this as well at first.
But guess what I did instead of fire off a hot take?
I did some research and saw it’s a New Orleans dance. LSU players do it. It was trash talk.
“Be curious, not judgmental.”
"What else has to happen for you, and your family and your friends, to learn? Make this about basketball, make this about your life, make this about your livelihood, and stop doing things like this."

Because they’re trying to help a 23-year-old young man and sometimes rehabilitation from the behavior should be the priority over punishment. But that’s counter-intuitive in our society, unfortunately
Why haven’t Memphis Grizzlies suspended Ja Morant for gun video?
Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins: “We’re keeping those dialogues inside, how we’re framing all that stuff. That’s our internal business.”
Good morning only to those that understand that missing Ja Morant, Luke Kennard, Marcus Smart, Brandon Clarke, and Steven Adams - 5 rotation players or better that make roughly $95 million combined - is going to impact how the Memphis Grizzlies win basketball games.
Jenkins says the spirit of Ja Morant has been great with his teammates in the locker room. Halftime, pre and postgame, adjustments...whether active or inactive, he's engaged and supporting his teammates.
This halftime show is ridiculous- zero credit to the Grizzlies making adjustments and playing better. Crazy idea - maybe Memphis, the
#2
team
In the west the last two seasons and dominant in the paint consistently, are pretty good.
Can we please not overanalyze this loss? Just say "good game Blazers, you played better" and bask in the 41-19 glow as your 22-year-old superstar heads to the All-Star Game as a started for the first time. Take a nap a couple times in the week ahead. Read a good book.
People criticizing the Bane contract fall in to 1 of 2 camps -
1. They don't understand how the NBA salary cap/max contracts work.
2. They don't watch Desmond Bane play basketball consistently or research his tape/numbers.
Desmond Bane and Ja Morant will get the headlines. But the Memphis Grizzlies lose that game without Steven Adams and Santi Aldama. A team win when two dudes score 76 combined is a beautiful sight.
How does the back-to-back Western Conference Player of the Week celebrate his honors? By making the drive down to Southaven to cheer on the Hustle

Desmond Bane is a top 5 shooter in the NBA. Unreal 3pt shot diet—ELITE off the pump-fake and rhythm dribble. Exquisite handoff synergy with Adams. Crossover pull-ups. Best top of the key spot-ups in the league. 43% pull-up. 44% spot-up. 18th percentile in openness. Flamethrower.
Luka Doncic clearly should be player of the month by almost every statistical measure, but I want Ja Morant to win it just to watch Mavericks Twitter implode.
These announcers are hilarious. It sucks GP2 got hurt and Kerr has COVID. Hope they both recover. Why is that being discussed right now?
JA MORANT IS OUT FOR THE PLAYOFFS AND MEMPHIS IS UP BY 52.
Jaren Jackson Jr. is going toe to toe with the most dominant force in the NBA and holding his own in the second half. A massive night for his development.
His confidence is a reason why he is elite. Of course it shouldn't change. They have this thing called the NBA Playoffs - the Memphis Grizzlies will almost certainly be there. I think time will tell on whether Ja is right. But he believes in himself and his teammates. Good on him
Six of their first seven games the Memphis Grizzlies have played a representative from the Conference Finals or NBA Finals from the last three years. They’ve played former and reigning MVPs, multiple All-NBA talents.
And they’re 4-3.
That’s terrific for this team.
I love Mike Conley very much but he’s not close in his prime to what this Ja Morant is. Mike’s prime IMO was the 2017 playoff series with the Spurs when he went against Kawhi. Ja at 22 has been the best player on the floor while playing LeBron, KD, and more.
It’s a wrap. Onward.
This is going to be the most interesting playoff run for the Grizzlies ever. Literally anything could happen. I could see them losing in the first round. I could see them winning the NBA Finals. Nothing would surprise me at this point. Most unique team in Memphis history
Zach Randolph left the Grizzlies to sign a 2 year, $24 million contract with the Sacramento Kings. And he was absolutely right to do so.
Tyus Jones deserves to get paid. And he deserves a starting role if that's what he wants. And Memphis will be wise to not overpay a backup PG.
