Thank you for sharing the news on our recent paper in Water Resources Research! It proposes a simple and efficient method to estimate a soil freezing characteristic curve based on pore images. The paper is open access and available at

Check out our recent paper on circumventing volumetric locking in MPM, co-authored with @YidongZhao_01 and Chenfanfu Jiang at @UCLA. It presents a simple and efficient locking-mitigation approach that can be generally applied to all explicit MPM schemes. https://t.co/P6axYKEXxO

The material point method (MPM) is frequently used to simulate large deformations of nearly incompressible materials such as water, rubber, and undrained porous media. However, MPM solutions to...

My colleague Wolfgang Fellin makes his short & very insightful videos for teaching soil mechanics available under an open CC BY licence: https://t.co/gZRfBiSpBy I highly recommended them for educational purposes!

Excited to share our new paper published in @ComGeotechnics! Here we propose an approach that couples MPM with the level set method to efficiently simulate interactions between soft materials (e.g. soil) and stiff materials (e.g. structures, machines, rocks) with complex shapes.

Just hired a 21yo for their first job. What basic professional advice do they need? Here's what I tell all my new staff, but perhaps you can add. I'll start small. 1/ Use an online calendar. Have a foolproof system of reminders, so you never forget a deadline or obligation.
