Vellozia is one of the most rich and abundant endemic genus in the Campos Rupestres in #Brazil. In this paper we investigated how past climate change helped to shape #Vellozia the present distribution of this iconic genus 👇🏽.

Brazil has more than 53,000 species of plants and fungi, one of the richest flora in the world! I love talking about that! Today, I gave a talk at the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University about this subject 🍄🪴🌿🇧🇷

How does the specimens available online become well curated? Because the taxonomists go to these museums to analyse the real specimens and make the species identifications. I updated the Vellozia collection at the Missouri Botanical Garden's herbarium after one week of work.

Vellozia is an iconic genus in the campos rupestres, a mountainous environment in the highlands of central-eastern Brazil. Under climate change, each species of Vellozia is expected to lose 84.26 % of its suitable habitat by 2060!.

I love to see my dear plants on the field! I collected this beautiful Vellozia angustifolia in Pirenópolis, Goiás, Brazil. See how beautiful are the Campos Rupestres, where they occur!

It was a great honour to meet this incredible woman, Dr. Ana Maria Giullietii Harley! She is a Brazilian botanist and was the supervisor of many Brazilian botanists, such as my PhD supervisor. She was a pioneer in the studies of the plants from the Campos Rupestres!

There are 2 things I like talking about: plants and plants from Brazil. I had the opportunity to present the project REFLORA in the #botany2024. Some facts, there are 52,000 plants and fungi in #Brazil and more than 4.4 million specimens images. See below.
