For @LAReviewofBooks I wrote about Sarah Manguso’s “Liars”, Alice Munro’s silence, and what happens when women turn into wives. All gratitude to @ellie_eberlee for helping me wrestle this into existence. https://t.co/8FT7FOi9X1

"She uses language to reconstruct thought, astonishing complexity of her son’s mind—all the while knowing that it will be merely that: a reconstruction," writes @JenessaAbrams in her review of Yiyun Li’s "Things in Nature Merely Grow."

I finished writing this for @LAReviewofBooks on the eve of my child’s first birthday. Marking the end of my first postpartum year with Shayne Terry’s Leave, a book about pain, intergenerational trauma, & motherhood. Thanks forever to @ellie_eberlee https://t.co/IMTATdzJyC

I was bouncing my baby when I saw the VP pick and shrieked with joy, then he shrieked with joy, and we both started giggling uncontrollably—me imagining the future this presidency could bring, him being blissfully unaware of the alternative which is what I want for all children

“This piece was never meant to be about Munro. It was meant to be about 'Liars' and women who are erased by men—as was the fate of the fictionalized Sofya Kovalevskaya and the silenced Andrea Skinner.” Jenessa Abrams reviews Sarah Manguso’s “Liars." https://t.co/JHUEmo1RE6
