That which is wrong is not always illegal or unconstitutional. And the equivalent: just because something is legal doesn't mean it's right.

"This excludes the vast majority of memes and satire. Additionally, AB 2839 and AB 2655 explicitly exempt satire and parody, though AB 2839 requires labeling of such satire or parody." — #USCGould Prof. @JefAtLaw on CA's new AI-related bills, in @LogicallyFacts

My heart is heavy but my spirits are high as I grieve the loss of the @USC students’ encampment but celebrate their courageous & conscientious fight against our complicity in mass graves, collective punishment, forced starvation, & the killing of more than 14,000 children

Does anyone have any tools or contacts for reinstating a Google group? A large, established, important, and entirely legitimate academic group was recently shut down, apparently due to a malicious report, and Google has offered no explanation or path to appeal or discuss.

The County applauds this decision by the FCC. We advocated for the restoration of Net Neutrality because everyone in Santa Clara County deserves reliable and open access to the internet − including for immediate access to critical information from the County during emergencies.
Today we voted to restore Net Neutrality. This reestablishes a national open internet standard to protect consumers, defend national security, and advance public safety.

I've only skimmed it, but it's nice to see a court taking a plaintiff to task (at least a little) for their consistent refusal to identify what protectable elements they were actually alleging were infringed. All too common a tactic. Opinion:
Federal Circuit affirmed SJ for WPL in SAS software copyright case. SAS failed to show that WPL copied any protectable nonliteral elements of the SW

Note how WaPo funded a national representative survey to find uncovered narratives about trans people and are using that to guide their coverage rather than letting conservative nightmares serve as their assignment desk
Top story on @washingtonpost this a.m.: Most trans adults say transitioning made them more satisfied. https://t.co/30M3uc7oCi

A thing I keep repeating to people about AI: large language models like ChatGPT don't even _try_ to answer the question, "what is true?" They try to answer the question, "what might a human say?" If you've ever been on the internet, you know how different these questions are.
