MOD predicts outcome of breast cancer: symptom vs screen detection had 63% higher mortality at 6.7 years, 6.6x>advanced stage, 2.2x> mastectomies and 2x> chemotherapy. 40-49 and 75+years were >70% symptom detected- we must offer them screening @CanadaSBI

Amazing progress @CanadaSBI.
Great news for all women in 🇨🇦. Each province that lowers the screening age to 40 adds pressure on the others. Women in every jurisdiction deserve equity in the opportunity for early detection .

Huge impact of costs saved from early detection of #breast cancer @Anwilkinson @MartinYaffe @MoiraRushton @CanadaSBI @uOttawaRad.
Earlier initiation of screening mammography at age 40 may yield substantial health care savings by reducing the cost of breast cancer treatment.

So proud of this collaboration with @MartinYaffe @Anwilkinson @MoiraRushton to show the strong benefits of early detection of #breastcancer and costs saved @CanadaSBI @uOttawaRad.
Our new study shows starting breast screening at age 40 is not only cost effective- it is cost savings. As treatment costs rise exponentially for advanced cancers, earlier diagnosis with screening saves both lives and $ @JeanSeely @uOttawaMed @JRENAUD28 @MoiraRushton @CanadaSBI.

Such a tragic loss. We should be aiming for zero loss of life to breast cancer in Canada. It is in the realm of possible with early detection. @CanadaSBI.
Another potentially avoidable death because of no supplementary screening for women with #densebreasts in Nova Scotia. We’re finding 6 cancers/1000 screens, and 75% are in Category C. These women deserve equity in an early detection. @TimHoustonNS

I had the pleasure of being on stage with this talented breast radiologist at @SBI2024. This is worth sharing and listening to @CanadaSBI @DanaAtayaMD.
“The inspiration for this song was to offer clarity and end the confusion about #breastcancer screening. Average risk women should begin annual screening with mammography beginning at age 40 and continue as long as they are in good health.” @DanaAtayaMD.
