The best part about being an adult is that you can just decide to get ice cream whenever you feel like it. I went to One More Scoop on Vivion Rd. Yum!

@QuintonLucasKC If it's off by $1b and on the low end of the range that's $3b. Still triple the original ask and 10x the County's offer. However many billions, it's ridiculous for a billionaire to ask for more billions.

To be clear, the only confirmed project on the landed owned by "Kansas City Airport Parking LLC" is, shockingly, a parking lot. A gas station, fast food restaurants, etc have not been confirmed. And even if they were, are not net positives for the city.

This is an excellent example of leadership. I'd like to know where my Council reps stand on the stadium tax @EricWBunch @CrispinRea . It's important the City Council take a stand considering the Royal's plan to ask KCMO for money too and we still don't even know how much.

No excuse early voting begins tomorrow. I think it’s important people know why I’ll be voting no to subsidize the stadiums.

For a lot of people, a 35% rent increase is the same as an eviction without a day in court. Solidarity to my Northland neighbors in Parvin Estates fighting against their corporate landlord Yarco Properties.

PARVIN ESTATES TENANT UNION: Today 63 tenants at Parvin Estates formed a tenant union, with the support of KC Tenants, and invited their landlord, Yarco Properties, to the negotiation table. The tenants’ demands include reversing recent rent increases and improving conditions.

For those following along with Richard Chaves' endeavor to get the City to subsidize his parking lot and possible McDonald's and Whataburger, his application for a TIF will be on the TIF commission's agenda tomorrow morning.

I'd vote for an additional sales tax for buses in a heartbeat if it meant: - free fare indefinitely - buses allowed to stop in Gladstone - decrease headway on more routes And I imagine most voters would as well!

The board did not take any action on zero fare. Buses are still free to ride in KC. The main issue is that zero fare is supported mainly through COVID relief dollars, which will be spent by 2025. That means the agency has a year to figure out the future of zero fare.

I know this is a moot point, but for a city with a population of 4,548, $350m seems like an insane amount of money. That's like $77k per resident.

NEW: If you live in KCMO, you might get taxed three times for the Royals stadium. Even if the Jackson County sales tax passes, it won't be enough to pay for the stadium. The team will need another $700 million, and they want taxpayers to fill that gap.

🧵 on todays committee hearing about Richard Chaves' handout. TLDR: Handout was lowered from $5.5m -> $700k to get "shovel in ground" & if passed as amended could leave the city on the hook for the other $4.8m or be left with a torn up intersection. No one testified in support.

I'm currently in the City Council chambers to watch the finance committee discuss Richard Chaves' handout. I'll post some updates here.
