This really does illustrate how poor Luxon is. It's a scripted bit. He makes an argument about the economy, and then undermines it completely with an obvious and unnecessary lie. He's been the leader of his party for five years and yet every day it's like it's his first day.
"Two years ago when inflation was at 7.3%" Two years ago inflation was at 4%. Yet another blatant and easily provable lie.

Our COVID-19 response started five years & 51 weeks ago, and yet this is only this election year's second-to-last cynical kangaroo court inquiry established by the current govt to gainsay the prior govt's calls that, at the time, they mostly supported

The second phase of the Covid-19 response inquiry found that New Zealand's transition from its early elimination strategy to suppression and minimisation was "far from smooth".

Simeon the pretender Brown reading out ministerial statement and has openly lied. Hipikns has challenged and read out word for word what commission found - the exact opposite of what Brown read out.

"Overall, this report concludes that Aotearoa New Zealand did well in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic. On the whole, the decisions taken and methods used during the Covid-19 response were considered and appropriate" Well, guess they'll now be demanding a third inquiry.

@WallStreetMav She’s been out of the country for four years, working in many big roles and still polls the most favourable political figure by New Zealanders. +12 vs the current PM at -24. This was February 2026.

I've just listened to Helen Clark being interviewed on NewstalkZB about the war. It's so good to hear someone who actually speaks sense for a change. If only she was our PM.

When global inflation hit 10% in Covid times, Labour stepped in to reduce fuel excise by 25c a litre, halved public transport fares etc Now, as we face extraordinary pressures at the till and pump, National are increasing fuel tax by 22c & car rego by $50 over next years

#IranCrisis has major implications for #NZ economy as for all economies. @liamdann notes that strong political leadership is needed to navigate through the storm. Current context makes decision to rely on imported LNG for energy backup even more absurd. https://t.co/okAXYq8LO2

Brett Randell is the first player in the long history of FC cricket to take 5 wickets in 5 balls. (And first to take 6 in 8). His 7 in 12 has been bettered just once. #PlunketShield

I thought there were no ways this could get funnier but here it is, they're getting the lads from TopGuer or The Boris Club or something to unskew the polls so he doesn't have a crisis of confidence and shit the bed on him How fuckin good

@MariaSherwood2 Went to watch TVNZ News later on replay, and wow, not a word. That is a very questionable omission especially as it led in depth on TV3. Clearly TVNZ obeying their masters after Gov ministers not happy with negative coverage and board chair talking to Goldsmith.
