Lack of sleep can impair performance & increase injury risk 😴 It’s important to ask patients about sleep duration & quality. The Hooper Index can also be valuable for assessing fatigue, stress & sleep. See Hatia et al. (2024) for more info: DOI 10.7759/cureus.76635

Does marathon running increase arthritis risk? A recent study of 3,804 runners would suggest not! There are limitations; arthritis prevalence was determined by asking runners if they'd been diagnosed with it by a doctor. See full paper for details DOI: 10.1177/19417381231190876

An excellent new study from Dr Lauren Pringels et al. in the BJSM has found that reducing tendon compression (by limiting ankle dorsiflexion during rehab) leads to better outcomes in Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy. See full paper for details: https://t.co/OIWfcxiD3z

This graphic shows the Sarcopenia Cascade—how muscle loss leads to insulin resistance, diabetes, obesity, bone loss, fractures, dementia, and higher mortality. A powerful reminder that muscle is metabolic, protective, and essential for healthy aging.

An example of being led by the evidence - but not constrained by it: Taping for patellofemoral pain. The research on it? Honestly, pretty 🫤leading many to argue it's a waste of time. But clinicians experienced with PFJ patients know many patients feel dramatic symptom relief
