This is a great explanation to many comments I’ve seen about “how can she be disabled if she’s in and out of a wheelchair”. And really good authentic representation to boot (ie not feeling the need to make an explanation part of Anya’s story) Bravo

Some of you have asked about the terrific Ellie Henry who plays Anya in RUN AWAY on Netflix. Ellie has been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and is an ambulatory wheelchair user. Thrilled and proud to have her in this cast:

Just bizarre to advocate for more employment whilst slamming the very things (PIP and Access to Work) that support people to get a job and stay in it

The prevalence of 'sickfluencers' - such as the male TikToker pictured - is thought to be partly responsible for the rise in disability payments in recent months

WE WON 💥 The two-child benefit limit is GONE! This will pull 470,000 children out of severe hardship by 2027. This is a massive victory for families, campaigners, and every one of you that played your part urging the Chancellor to act.

Almost 350,000 fewer disabled people are in work than this time last year. Critical more than ever employers begin to step up to keep disabled people in work. And Government invest to support people get into work free from conditionality. source:

So much of the conversation about disabled people and work this year has focussed solely on benefits. But for the Government to have any hope of getting more disabled people in work, it needs action from employers.

NEW: Our latest analysis suggests strict conditions faced by people in receipt of benefits are forcing them into low quality jobs. This risks undermining the government's employment targets, as people forced into low-paid, insecure jobs are less likely to stay in work.
